PlayStation to lose another exclusive. Stray coming to Xbox.

Looks like cat game Stray is finally coming to Xbox

The game - currently a PlayStation console exclusive - has now received a new Xbox rating by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB).

As spotted by Twitter user @MACOS380, Stray has been rated as E for Everyone 10+, with the ESRB noting the game features animated blood and fantasy violence. "Players sometimes encounter parasitic blobs/mice-like bots that can attack and kill the cat. Players can access a UV light to defeat the mice-like bots, causing them to explode and emit splashes of coloured liquid," the rating summary explains.

Other than that, this new Stray rating tells us little else, and no release date or window was included. Perhaps Playstation had a year's console exclusivity? The game initially released on 19th July 2022, so July this year seems a likely paw-sibility for its Xbox debut.

Eurogamer's Stray review was full of praise, with our Lottie complimenting the game's "fantastic cat exploration".

"Stray creates a journey filled with such a sense of exploration, on top of the chance to indulge in as much cat-truction as you like. While doing so, though, it also crafts a touching story about the human desires of those who, at a glance, lack humanity - be it to reunite with a loved one, protect a community or reach the outside world," she wrote.

"The result is a wonderful mix: a game about the longing for freedom, clever climbing mechanics, and every cat's eternal desire to knock items off shelves."

What say you fellow SW friends? Are you excited? I personally loved the game when I played it the day it came out. It was refreshing, relaxing and most of all a fun experience.

The only reason this game got any attention when it did is because there's nothing to play.

Cool. Looks like a fun game. Not going to buy it mind you but I’ll definitely give it a go if it hits Game Pass.

Not a great game. Particularly the platforming is really bad, playing as a cat should allow the gamer to freely "parkour" through the levels but their implementation is way too stif. Still the art is solid and it's a cool sci-fi story. Hopefully the sequel will be better.

Everyone knows Stray was always going to be time exclusive, we just didn't know how long it will stay on PS5 until now. Already got it on PC and it was awesome. Totally recommend trying it out when it hits Xbox Series.

Never gave two flying shits about exclusives. They can release Forza on Playstation and God of War on Xbox for all I care. But I want to play Stray on my mighty Xsex rather than my old PS4, so yeah, I'm excited about the upcoming Xbox release. I like cats in games (Hello Persona 5 and Alley Cat).

Very much enjoyed this on PS Plus and definitely recommend it as a fun relaxing experience if it comes to Game Pass. It looks great and is another great example of AA gaming. I'm glad more people will have a chance to play it.

No interest in it. I mean you play as a cat, to me that's boring, but if you like that then enjoy.

If it was a PS 1 year exclusive then July seems right, some stuff though seems to be exclusive for shorter durations, just depends. Given they have a PS Plus Extra/Premium deal here my guess is for 1 year.

Played it myself on PS5 and it was a fun game, very chill too. There's absolutely no reason to but when I find something to claw the shit out of I just couldn't help it.

This wasn't exclusive. Stray was on PC when it launched.

This game's also overrated. It only got an 8 cos you can play as a cat. Xbox boys aren't missing out on anything.

@davillain: Oh so that's what type of game it is. Well nah there's no enjoyment in it for me then as I like my games a little more fast paced. That and I find cats annoying creatures the world could live without.

@last_lap: the game is technically fast paced. You can finish the game in like 4 hours. But the game's just too safe on everything. It's a platformer where you can't fail the platforming.

Cute little game that mostly got the hype it received because it was free and because PlayStation had zero other “exclusive” games..

Think alley cat was one of the first games I ever played and could only play it the few times I went with my dad to work, as it was on his pc:)

I had fun playing through about half the game until I got to a point I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do and lost interest. Cool idea that was a little poorly executed at times in my opinion. Either way, I hope those that haven't played it yet have a good time. My favorite mechanic was the claw sharpening though... lol.

@girlusocrazy: I know, but I prefer the original CGA version. It has a certain charm. I also love the EGA graphics found in games such as Larry and King's Quest. Oooh, those crispy, garish colors.

@girlusocrazy: Never saw composite mode before, but it looks impressive in the video and reminds me of EGA graphics. So it's a trick to mix colors to create more colors, as I understand. I believe computers such as the Amiga 500 could make similar tricks, but I am no tech wizard.

Played it on Steam Deck last year. Charming little game. Recommend it to Xbox players.
