Playstation Classic - see it for yourself

Here you go. Official footage captured of all the games. Some games look sharpened up a bit but the graphical artifacts remind me of epsxe emulator back in the early years. These games just look like crap now. Also, what’s with some of the games not filling up top to bottom and others do? Could they not have included a scaling option for this type of problem? Anyway....here’s the video.

Not gonna buy this. Not because I dislike it, but because I'll hardly be using. I got the NES and SNES mini, and hardly played those.

Games could look good with some AA and filters.

@knight-k: yup. Too bad those built in options of the emulator they used pcsx aren’t available lol. I can actually get these games looking decent upscaled with AA and filters.

Definitely not worth the £90 then sounds like it's probably worth no more than £40. Disappointed.

You can use a shader pack on an emulator that adds perspective correct texture mapping which completely removes the warping graphics PSOne was known for and make the games so much more presentable.

I can't believe they've not done something similar with this.

I can't believe they didn't put crash & spyro and put Rayman 3 on there. The game selection is baffling to everyone. But not just that the mix up between pal and nstc versions on emulation. It's all a mess I can't see this selling anywhere near the snes classic.

There is no passion from Sony with this thing. It feels like a Jim Ryan approved project so he can be proven right that no one want to play that garbage. It will be up to the hacking community to improve the thing. If the hardware is decent enough they could turn it into all consoles mini up to psx era.

To use a British term, this is a 'piss poor effort' on Sony's part. Shocking.

Crash and Spyro are currently selling IP. There is no way Sony can put those games on this product.

My problem with it wasn't the graphics. It's the list of games on it. The only ones worth playing are Tekken 3, Twisted Metal, Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy VII. The rest is pretty much garbage. Even the SNES mini had a better starter pack than that.

No Tomb Raider, or Crash Bandicoot or Spyro or Resident Evil 2 or 3? Pretty big disappointment there.

Such a shame. I have the NES and SNES Classic Minis and really like those. I wanted to get this as well however the lacklustre list of games overall and just the general laziness of Sony putting this thing together has really put me off from getting it.

Syphon Filter and Resi 1 are good too though.

Yeah I watched a bit of this last night. They look even worse than I remember.

The only 2 games on there I would consider playing are Rayman, which has aged well, and FF7, which has aged poorly but I still play it every few years anyway.

...but why play them on this thing when they'd look better anywhere else?

I hope this mini console trend dies in favor of game packs or a subscription service on modern hardware. What a waste.....

Its a bad product. Sometimes PlayStation hits and sometimes they miss. This PS1 Classic is a big miss. Either PlayStation did not do the research on the NES & SNES Classics or they did not care. It has been well established the top 10-15 classic games for the PS1 console. This system is missing many of them. If anyone wants an official PlayStation mini console similar to the NES Classic & SNES Classic the PlayStation TV is the way to go. All you need is the PSTV console, a 16GB Vita Card and a PSN account.

Yeah 2 was the best imo. And syphon filter was (and still is) amazing imo.

You heard wrong, I enjoy playing old games. I'm playing Spyro: Reignited Trilogy as we speak.

This shit should not be "thing" it can be achieved with Backward Compatibility via emulation on existing hardware. Allow gamers to download and play old games instead of wasting money on dumb hardware.

What?! All I said was I enjoy playing old & new games. I'm also a Retro gamer, gaming is my number 1 hobby :)
