'Persona 5' update: Game may be launched in Japan this month

It looks like Japanese fans of the upcoming role-playing game "Persona 5" will be doing a victory dance as a report says the game will be officially released in Japan this September. According toCross Map, a new report says that Sony will be launching the game on PS4 and PS3 on Sept. 15 at the Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia Press Conference (SCEJAP).

hope there's good news about a North American release date soon, I'm sure many would be relieved to know for certain if a North American release date will come before the end of 2015 or not

They gonna drop it like that? I guess it could work for Persona, its a word of mouth game that will most likely stand out good since not many in its genre. Could be a real home run.

The Japanese release date is late October, early December for North America, Q1 2016 for Europe. The date for Japan will be announced on September 15 at the Sony TGS show, the date for North America a couple of days after the release of Dancing All Night at the end of this month.

Why 2016 for Europe? We are much more likely to 'get' Persona than the Americans. We understand quirky and 'out there' and this is how they treat us.

I get you, but the issue is, Atlus doesn't have a European branch, so their games always have to be picked up by a local European distributor, which inevitably causes a delay.

• If it's this year but wrong day and month, 3 months superiority acknowledgment.
• If it's this year and you got the month correctly, 6 month superiority acknowledgment.

Nintendo gets Shin Megami Tensei and Etrian Odyssey, PlayStation gets Persona. It's been a pretty clear split, so Persona 5 not having a Wii U version isn't much of an issue, when Shin Megami Tensei IV was a 3DS exclusive, and Illusatory Revelations is a Wii U exclusive.

Of course, neither of them are (or will be) half as great as Persona 5 probably will, so there is that.

Well, I was thinking that SMT has been seeing growing success on the 3DS, what with Persona Q, SMT IV, and the Devil Survivors. Persona 5 would be a great and pretty safe way for them to test the waters of the WiiU. It's certainly possible if Nintendo pushed for it, but I doubt they care. Maybe the 3ds will see some other Persona ports. They published the most recent Citizens of Earth, A Tex Murphy and a few others on Steam. SEGA PC games sales are good.

I agree, but the Wii U is on the way out- if there is a Persona game for Nintendo in the works, it is probably going to be the NX that gets it, not Wii U. Personally, I see no harm in them trying.

The games you mentioned were published by Atlus USA, but they were only third party games picked up for publishing and/or localization by Atlus.

I don't see a main Persona game gracing any platform but PlayStation. Persona Q-2 on NX might be cool though.
