Nvidia are launching a GTC 780Ti model but the best part is it comes in 3 variations: 3GB,6GB and a whopping 12GB model. Putting PS4s 8GB to shame

The new NVIDIA’s flagship is much more than GeForce GTX 780 replacement. Despite the fact that reference card will only arrive with 3GB memory, it does not mean that there won’t be the cards with more memory. The rumor has it that NVIDIA GTX 780 Ti will be available in 3 versions: 3GB, 6GB and even 12GB. Which version are you going to choose will only depend on how deep your pockets are.

These kinds of cards while likely to be expensive as hell will bring PC gamers closer to legit 4K gaming

Actually 6GB puts PS4's 8GB to shame since devs only have access to 5-5.5GB of it

12GB is overkill

I would pick the 6Gb but not that many games uses over 3GB right now also its dedicated so it shit on the PS4 8GB which won't be able to use all of it.

4.5-5.5gb, but that memory has to be split for game cache too so only expect 2-3gb VRAM

GDDR6 is said to be revealed by next year so might as well wait and see it could be a lot cheaper and more efficient than a GPU with a lot of GDDR5 rams.

4k gaming has arrived. Thank you lord Nvidia.

Now for someone to make 4k monitors that do 60hz over DisplayPort/HDMI 2.0 affordable.

Well the have their R9 290x range coming out which is stronger than Nvidia's Titan cards. This 780Ti is in response to that.

@maninflames-77: not atm but it will run upcoming games like Star Citizen which will blow away anything that the ps4 can produce in terms of graphics for its entire cycle.

This is why i have a console(PS3) to play exclusives

And a PC, to play everything else...

12GB is overkill though, no matter how stupid awesome it is.

i'll stick with my GTX 780, it does more then enough for me.

The PS4 has 8GB of RAM TOTAL. The average gaming PC has 8GB of system RAM + 2-3GB of VRAM on the videocard. A top of the line PC with 32GB of system RAM and a 12GB videocard would have 44GB of RAM total, compared to 8GB in the PS4...

I've heard about this, I wonder how Nvidia will price it. Just proves how fast technology evolves and how much we have available to us. Don't forget we still have the GTX 800 Series (Maxwell) coming early next year!

I couldn't imagine any type of game using 12gb of vram unless your applying OGSSAA/SGSSAA in 4K...

Correct. Before June next year it's expected we'll see GDDR6 for GPU's (Hopefully for the upcoming 800 series Maxwell) as well as DDR4 RAM on the new X99 Haswell-E.

Very exciting times!

That's just a really, really poor attempted burn. If you can afford one of these you can afford at least three 360's.

Did anybody deny that?

This isn't a thread about exclusives, but more powerful hardware. You're undermining your point, by conceding to sean's. Such a terrible argument.

12GB VRAM with a 384bit bus will be terrible, 6GB with a 384bit is bad enough

Wonder if Maxwell will have a 1024bit bus with 12GB VRAM on a GTX 880, maybe even GDDR6 RAM, would be sweet, but i doubt it, maybe with the Maxwell refresh in 2015

Volta will use Stacked Dram which will make bus width irellivant.

Vram will be exceeding 1000 GB/s very shortly, as i stated, people are idiots if they buy this now.

This is great and all, but additional RAM will have almost no effect on speed. It simply means that it should be able to render higher resolutions. Most of you know this, but some of the comments from other suggest otherwise.

Id much rather wait till DDR4/GDDR6 is released than to buy a video card with this much memory (at this price) considering its at the end of its life cycle.

@McStrongfast: Well newer technology at times can cost less and consume less power while yielding better performance. We just need wait and see how the new rams turn out when it comes to the improved stats it possesses compared to its predecessor, but of course the price will be a factor.

Why do you think it *will* be two years? It's three years to this date well within their timeline . Maxwell will be out in mid 2014 and there will be a refresh in 2015. Nvidia's time lines do changed and things do get delayed. Claiming people buying current gpu's being idiots is dumb on your part because this is how hardware evolves on pc there is always something better on the horizon. You get what you need or want now and upgrade later when you see improvements worth the money.

Even if they buy a GTX 780Ti now they can get two solid years of gaming out of it of maxing games.

The 12GB framebuffer seems like a gimmick.

When will you ever need 12GB? Mods? Nope. 4k? Nope. Next gen? Nope.
