the games are better
and the ones that are on console as well are just easier to control using a PC.
Huge library of older games and exclusives/performance/graphics. Those are the main reasons.
Mainly for their option to play any game however you want (you decide on input device, hardware to run it on, graphics settings and so on). Then there are the best and most exclusives and best multiplats on it.
Majority of games I play are first person games and they just feel better to play with a mouse not to mention that on PC you have to ability to decide what framerate is best suited for you, of course if you have a low end system your choices are slim but a modest system you can still chose framerate or higher settings.
The combination of playing games like Fortnite/PUBG/BF/COD/Doom and so on on a PC that can do 100FPS+ on my 160Hz Gsync panel while playing with a good gaming mouse... Its just no contest what so ever in my opinion and you really cannot go back even to 60FPS/60Hz on a TV with a controller.
Aside from that every other game I play on my TV with a controller and then PC and console are essentially the same thing now most games you can't tell the difference in settings or even resolution unless its drastically different and even then doesn't change much, but in games as I mentioned above where it counts and makes a difference its night and day.
1.PC has the keyboard and mouse which is far superior than controller in most of the games.
2.PC has much bigger library. You can even play all the 90s and 2000s games while on consoles it's too limited.
3.PC has some great exclusive games that are not on consoles.(Like great SW games that I like to play)
4.Online is also free.

Oh that's easy, this is the reason why I prefer PC gaming:
That said, I value performance over raw graphics and will always lower certain graphic settings if I can't get at least 60fps at my desired resolution.

I think that covers it pretty well. No need for me to repeat the list.
Better performance aka 60fps. I can't aim with controller I suck at it so K/M for me is the way to play.(unless it's a beat'em up or platformer which I play with controller on pc so no problem there either). Mods and I'm not talking about graphics mods but general performance improvement mods. I don't have to wait for devs to release patch. Choices, lots of choices.

Pretty much what @davillain- mentioned. I mean I can play my games beyond 60 frames in ultrawide at 3440 x 1440. Games look phenomenal and just feels so immersive. Playing through Forsaken expansion for Destiny 2 and the game just runs so smooth. On top of the extensive modding I've been doing for The Witcher 3 and on top of that I can run Reshade to tweak my game even more.
I mean, I even played Breath of the Wild in ultrawide at 3440 x 1440 and it looks incredible. Throw in the graphic packs; plus 60 frames and it's night and day from the Switch version.

I'll just co-sign that.
Quality and versatility. I don't like the limitations of the consoles. I like to play the way I want. I don't like to play at shit frame rates and I like to use the best tool for the job. Mouse and keyboard for shooters, the controller for platformers, etc..
If I only had consoles I would literally quit gaming. My PS4 has been used to play The Uncharted collection that came with it (quit half way through 3) and Horizon Zero Dawn. It was a complete waste of money
On PC I can play everything barring a handful of exclusive games that, generally, don't appeal to me anyway.

Why do I like PC gaming?
That's pretty much it in a nutshell. I'll gladly forego a handful of console exclusives in exchange for the incredible diversity of the PC platform.
The first reason would be the library. There are so many more genres on PC that are well represented. You have so many more games to pick from (from ye older days as well). And so many modern releases are just nicer to play on PC. Sometimes because of keyboard/mouse support. Sometimes because the fanbase fixes bugs that the developer can't be arsed to. Sometimes because it just doesn't run well on any other platform. Plus, you keep 100% of your library of games when you upgrade that PC.
The second reason would be the pricing. Games + PC system ends up being way cheaper for me than a PS4 or XB1 as a main platform. That's because I buy like 2+ games a month.
Convenience is my number three reason. It's faster to boot any game on PC. Besides, if I am at home my PC is turned on. I can easily have 100 games installed. What are loading screens? I barely see them. I can look things up while gaming on PC in no time. I can control the game through a myriad of devices. I can save game files myself, or game notes. I can manage my HDD space with ease, if I want to.
I think that freedom is my number four reason. Kinda connected to number three. The freedom to buy from another store. To determine when I update stuff. To pick my servers. To pick my settings when I have a problem with something like the framerate. On a console you are just screwed when the framerate sucks. On PC I can turn down shadows or turn down AA if my eyes can handle that and get a smoother game. If a game makes excessive use of Bloom or Depth of Field effects, you can usually turn them down on PC.
I share the answer of everyone above me, so that's obvious why PC gamers enjoy PC.
But what you should be asking is why even the biggest console gamers and PC haters at this site (even ones who hate on PC for 10+ years now) also prefer PC gaming the most. IE: Giovela, the biggest anti-PC advocate at a multitide of gaming sites has admitted multiple time his most played/used system each year is PC lol.
Likely due to the multiplats and online, but still funny.
Well, yeah. Near-unlimited backward compatibility is great. Still play Unreal Tournament 2004 every once in a while. Still one of the best shooters ever.
Also, I like strategy games, keyboard & mouse, higher framerates, graphics options, mods, and simply ability to customize so much of my experience to my liking.
And finally, as a Warframe player, I would always strongly recommend anyone looking to get into the game to try to play it on PC. Due to certification and fees required by the platform holders, console players would be lucky to get a patch a month. Meanwhile, because the devs control their own patching on PC, that version is guaranteed to get a significant update every week, plus hotfixes. You want the latest and greatest the game has to offer, you have to play it on PC.
@dagubot: holy hell dude. Playing Destiny 2 right now and it's just jaw dropping at ultrawide 3440x1440 and a steady 120fps :0
Did you manage to get breath of the wild running at 60fps ? I thought the game was locked 30 ?
I just turned on a specific option that unlocks the frames past 30 so it isn't locked. I can message you exactly what it is and show you what I did to obtain it if you're interested.
The ability to adjust settings to my liking
Mods
Crpgs
Fps with mouse/keyboard
Rts and turn based strategy games (King’s bounty for instance)
Best versions of 99% of multiplats
Nearly non existent load times
Consoles are just...constricting in every sense of the word: you get what they give to you and you'd better be happy because that's all you get.
One word: freedom
To elaborate (like everyone already said:
Many, many, many reason:
Consoles are just...constricting in every sense of the word: you get what they give to you and you'd better be happy because that's all you get.
I feel that exact same way. I'm really, really, really trying to give PS4 a chance, but every time I sit down to play God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Shadow of the Collosus I just think "man, this is just not an organic, comfortable experience."
Some games are just better on PC.
Like twitch shooters and RTS games.
Plus you have intimate Indy games that, as far as I know, aren’t on console like The Stanley Parable and Sir You Are Being Hunted.
Full control in literally every aspect. Be it software and hardware. Upgrade anytime i want. Mod my games as i see fit if i want to. HUMONGOUS library. Backward compatibility.
The PC empowers me as a user. O can choose to specialise my machine to do whatever i want, to perform the way i want it. Console makes me fill stifled, utterly at the discretion of Sony/MS/Ninty, they decide what i can and cannot have. I dont like that at all.
Huge library of older games and exclusives/performance/graphics. Those are the main reasons.
Those are some of the reasons I put money into a PC in 2014. Playing the Witcher series from 1-3 with save files carried over was a major reason. But as the years passed I just didn't care about playing on it anymore.
Older games as in 360/PS3 gen I bought on Steam wouldn't fire up all the time. I had to go to forums and find out why and how to fix them and I don't want to do that anymore then I want to know how to get a car running. So I play primarily on console.

If you guys don't mind me asking this question. Is it worth playing BOTW on PC over Switch? I'm not the type of person who cares about "E" (word lol) in anyways. I just wanted to hear your opinions on the port.
Edit: I played BOTW 2 times already, going for my 3rd play this December)
