PC Gamers get another AAA - Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020

This game seems semi-niche as it didn't have hype thread or anything on here.

IGN gave it a 10 its getting a lot of 10's and some 9's on Metacritic

But yeah you should definitely not play this on a console. Flight sim's belong on a PC like RTS/MMORPG's get a flight stick and pretend you work as a pilot flying from airport to airport.

I'll be honest this games not for me I'm not a sim type gamer. I dunno if having this game is a win or just a niche win.

The best game from Xbox... is not on Xbox. Big win for PC!

Amazing news for Xbox they really need it congrats!. Highly specialized product for certain niche group but might be fun to download and mess around a bit for Gamepass users on PC.

It's definitely one of the most impressive technical achievements in over a decade.

It's only on PC gamepass right now. Its not on xbox gamepass which is the main service.

Most, if not all Flight Simulators have objectives and campaigns built in.

Very much a game and a deep one at that.

As MS has already stated any peripherals that are for the XB1 will work on the XSX

Generally not too hyped about reviews one way or another but this is.....well, it's validating.

If a game from a niche genre like a flight sim that mainly appeals to a "dying" platform like PC can be so well-received, there is literally no excuse to not make any game ever provided people of talent and ability are behind it's production.

On a side note: does anyone know why Game Pass won't let me pre-load? It claims to let me pre-load but it's like a 20 mb file and the g ame is 120 GB lol.

I want to play it tomorrow when it's released, not tomorrow after downloading for 10 hours.

Its simulation if you want to pursue your career in pilot. not a video game.

Very nice. The game looks amazing. Not a PC gamer myself so I’ll be waiting for the Xbox Series X version to play this. Really looking forward to it.

What makes something a game or a simulation?

Plenty of War themed shooters are simulations of war (thinking back to the original COD for example)

Civilization is a game but also a simulation of sorts

Racing games simulate driving but add objectives (I would say a flight simulator has objectives as well)

its an empty world. simple fps with realistic looking water with cartoon everything else. take ratchet and clank its art direction is great but not realistic look as ghost or last of us 2 and hzd2 or god of war. its not made to look graphically beyond those games. don't get me wrong i love cartoony looking games because who wants to look at real life graphics all the time. its good to change it up a bit.

and don't get me wrong when i get xbox this gen for fable i will try this game. its just not made to look graphically impressive.

nice, looking forward to checking it out via gamepass. just need to free up some HDD space

I tried some back in the early 2000s and definitely not my cup of tea.

It's 120GB, so....

Should take me about 17 min with a gigabit connection.

1 Gbit/s = (1024 Mbit/s) / (8 bit/byte) = 125 MB/s (MegaBYTE)

(((120 GB) * (1024 MB/GB)) / (125 MB/s)) = (984 s) / (60 s/min) = ~17min

Likely won't get the full speed. I don't think MS uses peer-to-peer connections which allow for higher speeds. It will probably take me a few hours, tops.

I downloaded the placeholder file weeks ago which is just a small file. I am surprised that MS does not allow the full game to be downloaded in advance with a disabled executable to on the day of release the "update" is just a small patch that fixes the executable file

So MS has the best racer and flight simulator. I for one cannot wait to play this. Biggest graphical leap In the last 15 years. It'll score a 10.
