Reason I ask is because I am curious if new PC games still have DVD content that you can install directly to your PC or are you required to use steam/uplay to install the content? Examples: Far Cry 3 for Uplay and Wolfenstein New Order for Steam

Havn't bought a physical pc game... since... I cant even remember. WOW:WOTLK CE maybe?
dont see any point... I can DL most games in 2 hours max (those are the large ones)
I bought the Diablo 3 expansion at retail. That was the first retail PC game that I have purchased in years. It was sweet nostalgia at its finest. I even went to the old run-down Hastings for it.
Yes, when I buy games early physical is often cheaper. Like SoM costs €50 on Steam, but at my local store only SEK 350 ~= €38.
Since it Steamworks, it kind of becomes digital as soon as you have installed it though...
Once in a while yeh. Mostly blizzard games, and EA games (Oddly enough the games that does not use steamworks).
Part of the reason is that both lizzard and EA tends to put absolute horrible prices on the Digital games, and often cheaper to buy them in a store (with the exception of when EA has thier sales on Origin).
But those are so rare occations that I hardly Count them (last ones being SC2 + HoTS and BF3.
Pretty much all games now require some form of registration through an online service on PC so buying a retail copy is absolutely pointless (unless like Heil said you wanted a CE edition). I honestly don't remember the last PC game I bought retail. Probably TW empire? Think I got the CE version of that and wanted some of the (pointless) pre-order DLC.
No point. You install them, some require Steam anyway, others still have forms of DRM defeating the purpose.
I gave up on buying physical for the PC a long time ago.
herms knelt to DRM since a long time ago.
Could be worse, they could have knelt to subscription fees.
You can make backup disk copies of games with Steam, and if you use GOG all of that is DRM-free if that's what you need. Say for instance you want to install some games to a computer you have at some cabin in the woods without internet.
As for me personally, I don't do any of that stuff, and I buy all games digital because there's no real reason not to. I'm actually more inclined to buy digitally because of the bonus features, content, and prices that go along with it.
One reason I left the pc side. I love collecting and consoles offer someone like me a better experience. That and the exclusives aren't there for me anymore.
Yes because physical is cheaper, Steam is expensive as hell on new games.
these were my thoughts too, I can buy any new game from Best Buy for 48$ and get a 10$ GC on top of that. so 38$? Anyway that will be the standard price for new game deals this black Friday I am certain
Last retail PC game I got was LotR BFME2 like 6 years ago, I still have it. It's the only reason I have an optical drive.
Motokid most pcs come preinstalled with windows I only buy physical.. Unless its xbla vvc or dl only
Most games still have retail copies, including collector's editions. However, I haven't bought anything non-digital for quite a few years. Nowadays with the internet speed and unlimited data available to many of us, there is simply little incentive to go for physical copies, when the digital copies are both more convenient (acquiring & storing) and vastly cheaper.
Nope. Discs are slow to read from, they're noisy, are easily lost or damaged. My PC doesn't even have a disk drive installed...
Sometimes I see old PC games at sale from 1 to 5 euros and I buy'em. I still buy physical PC games if the price is inviting
No....digital is the way to go....MS had it correct but console folks got all scared.
Digital only blows.....
