PC Gamer: Switch > XBX.

If you want a 4K Blu-Ray player, the Xbox is a great buy (though like I said above, I think I'd go for the more affordable Xbox One S). But if it's all about the games? The Nintendo Switch just seems like a no-brainer right now. Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 2, and Mario Odyssey are all great games, and being able to play them on the go really does feel a bit magical. Microsoft is years ahead of Nintendo in online features, but, well, they just don't have Zelda, do they?

If you want to play only three games this year the Switch is a no brainer. If you want to play more than three games the PS4 and Xbox are the place to go. Needless to say a dumb statement by the author.

I guess it depends on who you are and what platforms you own. I own a gaming PC, and I don't really have any interest in Xbox One X. My standard Xbox One gets very little use considering I buy most of my games on PC.

For everything else, and indie games, I buy them on Switch.

However, if you had no games console or PC at all and you were choosing between and Xbox One X and a Switch, that would be a different conversation. :)

@loco145: well you have pretty much everythinbg so there is no point in arguing. Same as me. Though I'm regretting my ni ntendo switch purchase cause the only game I wanted to play was zelda. Now that I got a new 4k high end pc I can just emulate it on pc.....

Another Exclusive this year (xenoblade chronicles 2), something the XB1x is lacking :(

it does give more variety in game selection. i have generally been very happy going the PC/nintendo route. multiplats to the PC and the nintendo device for the exclusives.

game device wise there are only 2 things i want now really

1) a proper gaming phone. please someone...do it already.

2) something like the smachZ. i would love a portable gaming device that could run PC games. it doesnt need to be a beast. i wouldnt expect it to play battlefield 1 at 4K at 60FPS or anything like that. a low end AMD APU would be great even.

i often say that if i could only have 1 platform then nintendos options would be way down the list. but if i could have 2 then it would be a nintendo platform and something else (the PC really).

Those can be played on 4 year old systems that most people looking at an XBX already own. And since this is PC Game, readers already own a very good PC!

Also, Wolfenstein is coming to Switch.

@daredevils2k: I agree MS is lacking and I wish they would do something about it. I just feel Nintendo shot their load and will struggle in the 3rd party department, we'll see.

Apples, meet oranges. Anyway, I would take an X1X review from a PC gaming site with a grain of salt. The console obviously provides very little value to PC gamers, that’s nothing new. It’s been that way all gen.

I just find it funny how a PC gaming site oogles over consoles, I'm sure hermits dislike PC gamer.

Not that it's the answer to your problem, but Razer just announced a gaming phone that has some decent specs. Should look it up if you haven't.

Metroid Prime, Pokemon, Smash, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing

Switch gets 21 game releases a week on average every week. Needless to say, a dumb statement by Pedro.

This is written from the perspective of a PC gamer, to whom the XBOX is worthless. And as stated, Wolfenstein is comoing to Switch next year.

its not really what im talking about (and razer missed the mark. its just another run of the mill phone). in terms of horsepower phones have been well capable of beating the likes of the 3DS and vita for a long long time. hell the latest phones have the switch well beaten on the CPU front and are, at worst, not far off the switches GPU. but as gaming devices they are still poor.

im thinking more along the lines of a new xperia play...with the vita OS.....er.....backed by nintendos developers. add in the usuals (facebook, netflix, and so on). a gaming phone thats more gaming device and less phone.

PC, PS4 Pro, and Switch is the ideal combo. That is what I recommend. I wish all the games were on PC though.

I don't see how, it sounds like a pretty legit statement from a PC gamers perspective. I don't understand why a PC gamer would need an Xbone at this point. Save £450 and buy a Steam Link. Anything else with different games than the PC is more beneficial than an Xbone right now to a PC gamer imo, a Switch, a PS pro...

Plus everyone's glossing over the fact it's written from the perspective of the PC gamer. Let's get something straight. Lems want to praise the whole 'as many people can play the games as possible'. Fine, but they can't have it both ways, MS eliminated the PC/Xbox fan when they did that. I was one them. My Xbone became the worlds most powerful netflix player.

As a PC gamer, at this point the Xbone is somewhere under mobile gaming on a list of gaming devices I'd consider. If pretty much everything outside of Halo is going to the PC, why would I spend so much on an XXbone.

@BassMan: I agree. I only need a Switch to complete my setup. XboneX is redundant for anyone with a good PC. I can see why PC Gamer would recommend the Switch over an Xbone.

I am considering getting one next week, found out today i get a student discount at Nintendo's store.

A 30fps (if lucky) stripped down version. I would hardly compare that.

This is why I bought a Switch. It's a great little device too. Might play some while my wife gets ready for bed!

My phone has Final Fantasy 7. That doesn't mean that's the platform I'm going to play it on.

microsoft has killed the xbox brand for me. all you get is a locked down windows box with a spec bump. switch has exclusives and innovation that lets you bring your games with you, it has a cool controller that can give you instant m player. microsoft offers no reason to buy its console anymore over a pc or ps4 shares all its games with them and maybe will run games a bit better than pro.

Only.... Switch/PS4 have had good years, Xbox hasn't.... the only thing that holds up any Xbox exclusive is Forza.

He already has a nice pc. Why would anyone buy an Xbox 1 X when you have a nice PC? all the good first party Xbox games are coming to PC anyways. I would get the switch. It's got awesome exclusives you can't get on your PC. My PC with my 1080 GPU has better graphics than the Xbox 1 X. I can't think of a reason to get one. As far as 4k Blu Ray players, does anyone actually buy discs anymore? streaming is sooo much more convenient. I mean 95% of the movies that come out, I only want to watch them once.

To be fair Zelda does destroy the entire Xbone lineup combined this gen. Bringing Mario into the mix is just overkill.

It's not that Xbox line up is bad, because it is.

It's that buying a console for 2 games, 3 at most, and then a bunch of games not even out yet, seems like a waste of my money.

I've never been a fan of buying a console for a handful of games but even with that said the Switch is far more appealing to me as a PC gamer than the Bone is.
