I was gonna ask for your opinion.

I don't think so, from my understanding, due to E3's inherent as a trade show.

The new Crackdown 3 MP footage running on X1X that make heads explode will be worth the price of admission. :P

It seems like these days you get more and bigger reveals outside of e3 than at e3.

PAX for indie stuff, I guess. Don't know if Gamescom announces new games.

These events are only good if you have a VIP pass or something. Otherwise, it's a drag. Just a whole lot of walking and looking at games you already know of.

Gamescon is the largest European games conference, second largest in the world after E3. It also has an external Star Citizen event which I was hoping to get to this year but a family holiday was more important than a gaming conference (unfortunately it's too expensive for me to take the family to Germany in August)

Bill Goldberg says it's the best, so it must be :p

Don't know much about PAX, apart from Melbourne, it's pretty much an American conference.

It won't take much to be better than this year's E3. That was just a pathetic showing from everyone.

I dunno, I think Bethesda for example does a good job of showing off games a few months before they release.

That Wolfenstein II trailer is one of the best game trailers I've ever seen and it still has me very excited for the game, a good while after E3 has finished.

I think we are starting to move away from vertical slices and showing actual gameplay, and that is a good thing.

Because who could forget the infamous Watch Dogs and Aliens vertical slices... Showing off what is essentially a dream version of a game, and not reality.

Is everyone even going to be there?(Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony) I don't ever recall any big news coming out of these events. Usually just more of the same that was at E3.

That's kinda the thing as well, it's become so disingenuous that it not only extends to every robotic rehearsed word they blurt out but the gameplay itself. Not to say it doesn't have it's moments, Dragonball looks awesome, but if you plan on watching the whole thing it means a huge slog through lizard men in suits acting out how they perceive real humans to be.

They compare in the fact they are well known gaming conventions but they don't get as much publicity as E3. E3 is the king of gaming conventions but honestly it has lost it luster.
