It has noticeable short cuts because they aimed for native 1080p on a machine not really cut out for it but to say it doesn't look impressive is idiotic....

@brandshatch:
ok, so I did some shots:

And here's DOOM for the comparison:

The way the lighting looks, the way the materials look and reflect the lighting, Gears 4 looks like a past gen game in those. If Gears 3 was released on PC in 2011 it would look the same. DOOM is a proper modern game, even if it uses lower resolution textures sometimes.
Doom looks like Crap compared to Gears 4 so that right there proves you have no clue what the hell you're talking about.
Now this is a new level of delusion. Screenshot worthy)
Edit: jeez, I just saw that you compare TFLOPS when judging about actual video hardware perfromance. Why do I ever argue with you?
You must be comparing the Gears 4 on Xb1 vs Doom on PC which is a bad comparison. Compare the 2 on the same HW.
Yes I made that comparison. We'll just have to see who's right once the XB1X releases with some games.....
@metalboi: I thought we all just having fun here. Yeah, I know Gears 4 looks nice. Just not as modern as DOOM and BF1, more like an HD remaster of an UE3 title.
@brandshatch: Gotta redownload Batman Arkham Knight for this. Maybe some time later. In the meantime you can google some Arkham Knight 4K screenshots. Like here. And it's a semi-openworld game.
@brandshatch: Those are not bullshots, if you've played the game on PC at max settings, you'd know it looks as good if not better at times (IMO those shots don't really do it justice). One weakness is that trademark UE3 washed out color palette but it's more of an artistic choice.
@brandshatch: Ok, you can count on me delivering some real shots.
I've had the game since launch, I already know exactly what to expect and it's not going to be great. Graphics are definitely not one of Arkham Knight's strengths.
They are on the same level as Gears 4 graphics, despite being a semi-openworld game.

Absolutely not, Gears is using much more advanced rendering techniques and has features Unreal Engine 3 simply does not possess.
Of course it is. Having UE4 vs UE3 helps a lot. But the end result is what matters the most. Gears 4 doesn't look much more impressive overall, despite being far more advanced in theory.
@brandshatch: Not much. I've played for like a couple of hours. Give me screenshots of the best looking area in your opinion, maybe it is actually good.
@brandshatch: Something is off with your shots, like texture resolution and filtering. Are those low settings?
Game looks great and I can't wait to play it on the X1X.
This X 1000000 plus all the others like RotTR on mah spanking new Mighty X1X and new top tier big screen 4K OLCD TV with all the bells and whistles.... Ye old, this gon b gud. :D
Meanwhile, the competition if you can even call it that is stuck with half assed Bore Poo. :P
@brandshatch: I am being serious, wtf is this?
Looks like an artist's watercolor rendition of a game. Neat!
Try playing Nier Automata and you know what outdated really means.
Agreed here. The game was mostly fun, but damn did it look like a PS2 game.
