Nintendo 64 had the best quality, PS1 had quantity.

I choose quality. No system with Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Super Mario 64, and Conker's Bad Fur Day can possibly lose in my opinion.

They both have their pro's and cons. Computer gaming decimated both though at that time. Ocarina of time is the last console game that gen I remember being wowed by.

Yeah.. Maybe you should make an actual good thread that has more than just two options. Just a thought.

when i think old school i think 80's

PS1 vs. N64?

flash vs. depth really

BUT

cheap vs. expensive

i went with the PS1 because it was a lot cheaper, and the games were still great (Armored Core, MGS, Einhander, Xenogears, Gran Turismo, etc.)

also

dualshock > N64 controller

I don't really have a favorite. If I had to recommend one though I'd say PS1 just because the games are usually cheaper, can be played on more systems, and it generally has a more diverse library.

N64 had Zelda: OoT (tied for my favourite game of all time) & Zelda: MM (probably my second favourite), as well as games like Paper Mario, Goldeneye, Super Smash Bros, etc. I didn't use my Playstation too much, but FF8 remains my favourite jRPG of all time.

PS1 was better, it had a way better library of AAA titles and it had basicly all the JRPGs of that generation.
The only things the N64 really had going for it was Zelda, Mario, Pokemon and Rare games.

For the time: Psone. its library was almost unbeatable back in the day

Now: The n64. The n64 didnt have the library that the psone did, but its god titles were so godly that it was closer to the psone than it really should have been. Those small percentage of godly titles on the n64 for the most part still stand up really well to this day, while 95% of the psone games by todays standards are just complete garbage

Yeah the Saturn gets my vote! Nights, virtua fighter, X-Men vs Street Fighter, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Virtua Cop ect. Saturn was more my cup of tea.
