What's ironic is that due to fears about what Obama will/can do to gun rights, gun stocks have never been higher due to consumers buying everything in sight resulting in even more guns being out there. So all the people clamoring for peoples guns to be taken is having the opposite effect. You could say that they are shooting themselves in the foot on this one.

True, but like the actual company is sketchy if you look it up on Wikipedia, related to ATF issues

ATF? Is that the government body thats supposed to control gun sales?

Yeah, it's the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms

More good news:

No more doctor-patient confidentiality when it comes to mental health

http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/obama-asks-doctors-help-deal-guns_696121.html

As if it was not hard enough for people with mental problems to have the courage to seek help, now they need to worry about their doctors ratting them out to big brother. Now on top of our guns possibly getting taken away based on how scary they look or how many bullets will fit in the clip, there will be more depressed and suicidal people wandering around without seeking professional help. How wonderful it is that our federal government can do all this based on emotional reactions without taking the time to think about the consequences or legality of it all!

lightleggy

Everyone has the right to know if you have a condition taht could make you pull out a gun for no reason and start a massacre. WTH would you tell to the families of a guy who was killed by someone with a severe mental condition, and who was able to obtain guns or other form of weapon because their psychiatrist couldn't reveal his/her condition?

They're required to report it if they feel the person is a danger to themself or others, I believe

A handprint lockout system or DNA recognition somehow on the gun would make the most sense, seeing as how in most cases the shooters don't actually own the weapons themselves.

Lots of the things promised in the Healthcare bill were bogus. Prices have gone way up and lots of businesses will drop employees coverage since they can only afford the penalty for not providing healthcare as opposed to actually providing the service. Its a really big mess over here. The bill was barely even read by those who voted on it. Thats why understanding this sentiment is important contextually on this whole gun issue.

I'd like a system put into place that actually holds the U.S congress to their word, if they cannot do the job they should be fired, simple as that.

So much blame is placed on the president but when you have to jump through these rediculous loopholes of democrats and republicans simply disagreeing because they can. It holds things up for everyone.

Work together or not at all. Find a common point you can agree on and take it from there, don't refuse to raise taxes on those that make over 400k per year, we might not have a poverty problem in this country if we could just see beyond this petty crap.

Recently we had a case where an independant commission recommended to our parliament some significant changes of drug laws based on solid scientific evidence. For example that instead of incarcerating drug users we should be treating them.

What did the Honerable member of parliament Simon Powers do? Just stuck with the status quo as it better suited his political agenda instead of going with science.

So yeah, I agree with you on this one.

I believe in a conspiracy that the current government is purposefully trying to collapse the country. No one could come up with a better explanation, you just don't have this level of incompetence by accident.

Race bating, class bating, gender baiting, conservative bating, excessive counter-productive spending, excessive counter-productive regulations, fear mongering, wars on everyone, wars on everything, the only they they could be is they are trying to get the nation to the boiling point.

Good. Let 'em. Then when we have a federally-funded study that proves that there is no causative relationship between violent video games (or any media) and real world violence, maybe people will shut the f*ck up.

And what if they do find a link? Will you shut the f*ck up?

I'm not sure DNA recognition is really plausible

Fingerprint Technology is though..and its been done.

So Kojima actually predicted the future after all.

I always had a philosophy that if you can imagine it, it is possible in some shape or form. Every sci-fi technology we have seen will become reality eventually. :D

It really is, regarding kojima they already have had prototypes out of a stealth suit for a while now, some say it's even seen actual combat situations.

the bending of light and all that.

so what if his nomenclature ain't spot on. He's asking a question. I think you know what he's trying to figure out.

secondly, what do you mean 'talk about'? he's asking a question. there are no speech restrictions on american politics which extend to other countries like the UK.

your post isn't helpful at all. seriously man. what did you hope to accomplish with your post?

MSXBOX4EVER

Lolwat.

Specifically

"there are no speech restrictions on American politics which extend to other countries like the UK."

lol wat indeed.

Implying you're serious (which, you're probably not but who cares) he asked a question that assumed something that wasn't. It's obvious what the intent behind "Why do we need Assault Rifle" was, to try to play the 'You don't need it, thus you shouldn't have it' card. As a non-American he clearly doesn't actually know how things work here and assumed something that wasn't.

Also, "Lol non-americans talking about American politics" is an expression. He can go on talking about things that he clearly has no understanding of, and I can take solace in the fact he can't vote here. A vast-majority of people who don't live in America that try to talk about the happenings of America come off as silly.
