So this is finally coming folks.

Hexus

To be released;

In April Nvidia will expand the "raytracing-capable GPU installed base to tens of millions". A new driver will support this rendering technique on GeForce GTX 1060 and better graphics cards.

But...

Nvidia admits that on these older Pascal GPUs, and on the new GTX16 series, raytraced effects will execute on shader cores. Meanwhile RTX GPUs use dedicated RT cores for better performance. "Game performance will vary based on the ray-traced effects and on the number of rays cast in the game, along with GPU model and game resolution," explained the green team.

Off-topic: Jesus why is the formatting in posts so fucking terrible?

I wanted to check out raytracing in Metro on my 1080ti because I heard it looks freaking wonderful.

But on the other hand, if it turns into a slideshow, I'd just rather stick to high FPS.

I'll wait until the hardware becomes more available and more affordable.

Based of the charts, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Battlefield V could reach 60fps with a GTX 1080Ti at 1080p with some settings tweaking which I find interesting. But in 1440p, it's still demanding, even with Raytracing on. GTX 1060 isn't the ideal though, even a GTX 1070 for that matter unless you want to lower on console's setting.

@Juub1990:

https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2019/03/ray-tracing-is-coming-to-a-whole-lot-of-gpus/

How good is the performance?

Tracing rays of light for reflections is a lot less taxing on a GPU than tracing every ray of light to create both shadows and reflections. Which means your GTX 1060 will have a lot less of a struggle handling ray tracing on Battlefield V than Metro Exodus. “It’s going to be very game dependent,” Nvidia told a group of reporters, including Gizmodo.

But how much of a struggle? That remains to be seen for some of the less powerful GPUs Nvidia ships. Nvidia only divulged numbers for the 1080Ti. In Battlefield V, a 1080Ti at 1,440p resolution supported ray tracing while churning out 50fps. In Metro Exodus it plummeted to under 20fps. Nvidia claims a 2080 at the same resolution did over 70fps in Battlefield V and over 60fps in Metro Exodus—a far sight better than the 1080Ti. So expect even less stellar performance from the 1070 or 1060.

For comparison

GTX 1080 Ti's DXR results seems to be slightly below RTX 2080 range

It again just seems sorta unnecesary to emphasize this I guess for a variety of reasons.
