Will this lead to Persona 5 and Life is Strange finally being put on it, because that's all I want at this point.

Cool to see Battlefield right on COD's heels. Too bad they don't have another to follow up, but there's Battlefront 2 coming.

Not surprised Breath of the Wild is doing so well, probably has a great attach rate. I think at one point they said the game sold better than the system likely due to scalpers.

@lamprey263: Battlefield not being a yearly game works in it's favor, I think. Each release is an event, as opposed to the yearly CoD releases.

Besides, when EA tried to turn Battlefield into a yearly thing with Hardline, people revolted.

Yet was outsold by Mario + Rabbids

The Switch was the second wind this generation needed. Not mid gen hardware upgrades. I think the Reset button has been pressed and the only clear path forward for Sony is to load up on big exclusives and megatons.

the surprise for me is marvel vs capcom infinite! holy crap it actually sold somewhat ok in the west!

I typically don't post in NPD threads unless I find the leaked software numbers , but since my name was mentioned again I'll give it a whirl for my fans out there.

Sounds like the PS4 was indeed the #1 eighth generation console in September as rumored. Sorry Xbone and Wii-U. Maybe next month.

The PS4 was also the #1 hardware revenue based system this month. That's pretty good for a system that is nearly 4 years old battling with a new gen system .The dualshock 4 black was also the #1 accessory this month as well. That seems good because every system already comes with one. Local co-op games like Knack 2 pushing dualshocks 4's? Or people playing so hard and long that they are wearing out well made dualshocks? A combination of both I guess.

There's also a top 20 list and other tidbits and lists on the web you may not get from a Nintendo site or Gameflop. Mat Piscatella of NPD also has a video up on youtube. Have a nice day or evening everyone.

I always said graphics and power are not what sold the PS4. They're not the reason anything sells. In fact, what sells a system would shock most gamers.

When they first announced the switch I knew this concept would be a game changer. I love beating a dead horse, all those "this will die like Wii U" predictions were laughable. I knew the Switch would be a big hit. Nintendo took the console space into the place they do best, handhelds, and combined the two. They get the best of both worlds. Doom seems less graphically impressive? Well, it's a portable. Mario Odyssey looks amazing, well it's a console of course it does.

Win-win.

This should please Ubisoft. They should be more willing to release games on Switch.

Yeah but... it's a damn Capcom fighter. Bar some exceptions (like Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Street Fighter X Tekken and Power Stone), they always have selling/staying power no matter what wrongs Capcom ever does.

Ghost Recon sold? I don't recall any hype for it whatsoever.

Not to mention that they used the MCU, with no X-Men, Fantastic 4, or Dead Pool. People love Wolverine a lot and that killed a lot of hype.

I thought Infinite warfare was shitty and nobody liked it ?

It has games people want, the system itself is cool and fun to use, and as far as the vast majority of the general audience knows, this is the first new Nintendo system since the Wii.

I finally bought my switch too, but the snes would have been good if I could have gotten it.

@Zero_epyon: Only a person that has no experience with the hardware would draw that conclusion. The Wii U tablet couldn't really leave the room the console was in. The Wii U tablet felt really cheap. The Wii U tablet was oddly large and awkward. The only real comparisons are they they were both technically "tablets" made by Nintendo. From there the experience is wildly different.

That's probably why it sold, because of the MCU connection. But whatever they've gained with the MCU connection (not much), they lost way more fans by getting rid of the X-Men.

We could blame Fox for not allowing to work w/Marvel regarding the MCU franchise, but I put more of the blame on Marvel for acting very childish on the matter. Capcom shouldn't take heat on the decision cutting off the X-Men. Marvel is trying very hard pushing the Inhumans, but they're nowhere near the X-Men's popularity. Fuq it, I'm just gonna say it! Wolverine is the most popular X-Men, in fact, one of the most popular Marvel characters ever, without him, then no sales.

Honestly I don't find the comparisons between the Wii U and Switch that absurd.

-Both didn;t focus on hardware power

-Both allowed for the ability to play on the big screen or in a handheld mode

-Gamewise, the Wii U was largely carried by great first-party titles and a decent selection of indie games, with a handful of worthwhile third party titles. Switch will probably be kind of similar, although the Switch has already showed more potential to get more than just a "handful" of third party titles (wouldn't be surprised if it has already surpassed the Wii U in terms of third party TBH), though I could still see first party and indie stuff being what largely carries the Switch's game library. I'm sure the indie catalogue will end up bigger on the Switch than it was on the Wii U.

I've always seen the Switch as a "better Wii U." Handled the whole console/handheld dynamic much better, actually kind of promising future for third party support, likely to get larger indie catalogue at this rate. First-party wise has yet to be seen, though the Switch has had a pretty damn good start with BotW, Splatoon 2, ARMS, and soon Odyssey.

bayonetta, zelda, mario racing games, pokemon, splatoon .... coming to think of it, I think all the games that are selling on switch are all on WiiU ports really, correct me if I am wrong

Yes, they it is same tablet concept with detachable controllers on both sides, it is a Wii and a WiiU combined .

You are wrong. MK8D is the only Wii U port.
