NPD results for May: Switch #1, MK and Days Gone repeat, Xbox flounders

I haven't done one of these in a while, but it's your good ol' friend, the NPD results. NPD's gotten clandestine again Illuminati-style and getting stauncher with number leaks, but the figures have still been seeping out anyway. Things to note for the month: MK and Days Gone are number one and two again respectively, proving to be big titles for the first half of the year.

The Switch is still hot, with numbers almost eclipsing both competitors combined. And the most valuable console gaming brand, Xbox, saw their console slide well under 100k units this month despite promotions, including 100 dollars off Xbox One X. Also, Total War makes a surprise appearance on the list, edging out RAGE 2. Team Sonic Racing appears to be a washout (memo: Sonic isn't popular anymore) wheezing in at #19. People can hate on Crackdown for the flaws it has, people can hate on Days Gone for the flaws it has.

But the most important question about any video game is always the baseline: is it fun?

It's going to be interesting to see the numbers for the games that are releasing this fall.

I can guarantee you if Days Gone were in PS Now it wouldn't have sold that much. Paying $60 for a mediocre game like Days flop.

Still Gears 5 will outscore Days Flop and be the better game. If Gears 5 isn't on top when it releases in the UK and stay in the top five for for at least six weeks, then they have no taste in games.

Lol, if you can mock one of Xbox's 1st party games for having multiple issues, then why can't anyone mock basically the PS4's equivalent for it's multiple issues? On top of that, Crackdown 3 wasn't even hyped up near as much as Days Gone. Did you see how heavily Sony tried to market that game?

Also, I like how over half of those games you listed were multiplats, and only one was a PS4 exclusive. And it was at the bottom at that. (Spiderman was still a great game tho, but you see my point).

Sony lost to another console that is from Japan so not really the same thing, plus the Switch is a handheld hybrid so also not really the same. Also did you say Crackdown 3 wasn't really hyped?
