too long didnt read whats the obvious?
That's cool...
Actions usually speak louder than words though. Action, something the company he works for isn't very familiar with.
This game is never coming out.
If thats really Nomuras blog he has way too much free time on his hands.
"While the Final Fantasy XIII team continued to make their stupid on-rails Korean soap opera."
Wait did he really say that? Thats pretty lol. I take it he didn't like the game then.
Would it be hilarious or incredibly sad that this person is knocking on Final Fantasy 13 when his game is probably going to be even more melodramatic and Japanese-centric? As in, adhering to Japan's taste of liking overly dramatic, bad acted and girly characters whom you want to kiss a lot?
Instead of you know, giving the rest of the world a fun action RPG with likable, realistic characters or at least entertaining characters to get to know on screen.

You mean what FF13 tried to do?
A shame we gamers aren't getting FFVsXIII as fast as we should. Many teams including Nomura's were used to help with FFXIII's port. Interestingly enough, FFXIII is the lowest metascoring game in the FF main series, and Wada just spoke about how many gamers don't like the game. It's a good seller though.
EDIT : This is kind of a crazy blog.

Oh no not this stuff again! It's not their fault that Sony shot themselvses in the hand this gen and lost all their exclusives.
And it's not Square Enix's fault they just care about money instead of taking a good, long hard look at themselves and seeing what they should be developing and selling instead of sticking to the generic and the tried-but-not-so-true shall we say formula that only appeals to the Japanese when they themselves stated they were concentrating on International markets.
Developing just for the 360 is not my idea of pushing themselves further. They're just being lazy with their characters, their story, and are really not pushing the boundaries. The FF namesake won't save them for long... I myself did not purchase FF 13.

I think what was wrong with 13 was that they were trying to hard to reach western audiences and not their usual crowd.

What are you talking about? That pink bikini clad annoying voiced female (which is all the more scary when you hear rumors about Japan's suppressed... pedophilia) is supposed to be an appeal to Western audiences?
The fact that they rely on making males attractive looking instead of having more depth to them? Being gloomy does not equal depth. At least change it up a teensy bit... Like someone acting overly cheery to compensate for their insecurities, only a guy this time.
I love linearity, I love easy games, and I love long cutscenes in my games. Like Metal Gear Solid. However I do NOT like FF 13, a wait of four years when FF 10 was delivered in under a year, back to back with Square's other titles.
You can cite rising development costs but a smart company tries to make it work. Tries to use situations to their advantage. It's the only way this medium will progress.
The topic is misleading and it is rare for Japanese developers to have blogs in English as most could not speak the language.

Lowest scoring, are you sure? What about the first 3 Final Fantasies, FF 11, and
I think the gamers that bought the game didn't like its excessive linearity, while others that don't mind linearity at all didn't buy it because it was on the 360 as well, which naturally is a legitimate reason as that effectively soils the game. Or something.
LMA:lol:. This blog is too good.
