Nomura: Still No FFVII Remake, but Maybe Cloud Cameos (WTF??)

Square Enix designer Tetsuya Nomura reiterated the no-plans watch for a Final Fantasy VII remake any time soon, although it would take much more than the nuanced way he said it to put to rest the speculation on this game.

In the current Famitsu, Nomura, who designed the game's much-beloved characters, says:

Fans are looking forward to an oft rumored remake of FFVII, but I don't believe this will happen for the time being. However, it's possible that he will appear in other titles as a guest character.

So, "for the time being," isn't a "no way, never," but it's indefinite enough that Final Fantasy VII fans are just going to have to play the PSOne original. That said, the potential for cameo appearances by the protagonist of this cherished game is something to look forward to.

That's most likely the case. Birth By Sleep is already out and it's secret ending hints at the next title so it only makes sense.

Well, Nomura must hate money because a good FF7 remake would sell... a lot. I wonder what the reason is.

I would love to see a Remake of Final Fantasy VI, it's a great game.

My god. SE needs to let go of FFVII. It's not even close to one of the best games in the series and Cloud is a horrible character.

I dont want to see Cloud in any game but a remake. Plain and simple.

They're really not. They play no real role in the central story, and their roles are essentially as filler as any of the Disney characters who are Mickey, Donald, or Goofy.
