Trailer:
No real surprise, really. Nioh 1 was on Steam and sold well.
Hmm. This will be out less than a year after the PS4 release. Despite Sony's evasiveness, we know for certain Demon's Souls will be coming to PC as well. Death Stranding took 9 months. One should remember that these release timings are often dictated by exclusivity contracts.
Which is a promising trend for me personally. Hopefully, this means I won't have to wait too long for a certain Sony game I'm really interested in.
Knew this was coming to PC, so no surprise.

HFW no doubt lol. I'm also waiting for that game and this time, it better not be 3 more years like the last one.
@madrocketeer: Nioh isn't a first party game. But yea, there is probably hope for PS5 games coming to PC down the road.

Nioh (and Nioh 2) is actually funded and published by Sony, hence the publishing rights on console rest with Sony even though Koei Tecmo is more than capable of self publishing. Sony is sneakily trying PC market, I mean they have a new $50m PC venture mentioned in their recent Q2 earnings.

As in porting console games? Or something else?

Dont know, they did specify Horizon Zero Dawn as example of quick money.

I'm really easy to read at this point, aren't I?

Well, it is published by Sony, and typically it is the publisher who funds the development of the game, and therefore set the terms of the release dates and platforms.
It just seems Sony's contracts with these "second party" studios are slowly becoming relatively more open-minded, at least towards PC.

Yeah, Sony did say they're interested in more PC ports of their first party games. It's a bit of a tea leaves reading as to how that will pan out at this point, but between this and Demon's Souls, it looks very promising.

Ah nope. It's funded and published by Koei Tecmo. Sony took care of publishing in the west.
I was looking forward to this but everything i've heard just makes it seem like an even harder version of the first one, and as much as I enjoyed that, the difficulty became too extreme after a point and I ended up giving up somewhere in act 4.
not sure i'm up for this
@madrocketeer: as someone pointed out, I think Sony just publishes the game for the West.
I did say "typically."
Still, my point about contractual obligations stands. It's obvious in return for publishing the game on the PlayStation outside Japan, they can't release the game on anything other PlayStation and PC.

Yup, that port was done really cheaply. Couldn't have cost them more than 5 bucks to make.
The port has gotten better now and regardless, I still rather play it on PC then on PS4 console. I do hope Sony learns from this and do a better job next time cause I really hope HZD on PC sold well enough to encourage Sony port more exclusive games.

Honestly if they are going to do them on the cheap like this, don't bother. PC has more than enough broken PC ports.
I know Microsoft started out like this too (Gears of War remastered). But their ports have improved a lot. If Sony can't do quality ports, they shouldn't bother.
