Uhhhh?
This is major.
Would I be able to play games from my Steam library? If so, I'm a very happy man.
Sounds like it...
@charizard1605: how you just gonna leave out it says Xbone and Switch Smh
Xbox already has this functionality lol
Switch getting it is a far bigger deal
@charizard1605: no you can play Xbox One games on a PC not the other way around. which this is implying, it's a big deal for all
Really? I could have sworn a UWP app existed for this, but fair enough. I legit didn't know lol
@charizard1605: I don't honestly know. I know they have the UWP and certain games are cross buys. But that's a MS thing.
This rainway sounds a little different like any PC game that's compatible with the limitations set in the program.
Hopefully someone more knowledgeable gives some insight ???
so you can turn your Switch into a steam link?
this doesn't seem like that big of a deal? or am I missing something
No fucks to give as it's not a feature I'd really use, but still a kick ass feature nonetheless.
True. If you have the PC and STEAM on your PC, why would you want to stream it through the Switch or XB1? The Switch maybe because it's portable, but Nintendo online service will be a mess with this.

Yeah I see the appeal, being able to "switch" from Nintendo stuff to your Steam library on-the-go is probably going to be amazing for a lot of people.
I just don't game on the go lol. And streaming is no bueno for a lot of the games I like as most of my favorite games involve fast paced action.
Cool feature, just not for me.
It's just streaming from PC to Switch? Why is this a big thing?
You can go from Zelda to Goat Simulator on the same device while riding a train.
/console wars
No it's not major. There was another piece of software called Kainy that did this with Android and iOS. It allowed you to stream PC games to those platforms. It never took off because the tech wasn't very well developed and the interface was terrible.
This isn't the only one that has tried that either. Other apps have attempted the same thing and they've all had pretty mediocre results. I expect this one to have the same.
Nvidia and Steam's streaming is already questionable at best. Some random 3rd party developer without those kind of resources isn't going to do better.
Game streaming just has too many limitations.
i would be very surprised if nintendo actually let this go ahead. it may have been quickly pre approved or something but once someone back at ninty HQ gets wind of it i would say itll be shot down very quickly.
i hope im wrong as it would be a nice option to have on the switch but i cant see nintendo being very supportive of this at all.
also it is streaming so not ideal for a lot of games. but its better than nothing and would make the switch more useful. for people who are interested its vital that the PC is hooked up to the router via ethernet. wireless for the host and client just doesnt cut it.
Well switch runs on the same chip as Nvidia Shield, which offers streaming from PC to tablet->tv, also the Moonlight software you can run on Rasp etc uses the same Nvidia inhouse streaming feature. So not really surprised to see this happening on Switch
While it's true that streaming is good for turn-based games and not much else, for me the big news is Nintendo allowing something like this to exist on one of their systems. It's very un-Ninty-like, and hopefully indicates that they're prepared to be more instep with modern times. I don't see how it could be viewed as anything other than a positive thing for Switch owners.
You'd be surprised how well the nvidia streaming works, it supports up to 4k as well, steamlink is only 1080p. This obviously needs wired connection and you will get less than desirable performance over WLAN, gbit ethernet is the only way I'd recommend using high quality streaming
Remember when i made that thread about streaming PC games to Switch.

could include this in OP https://www.reddit.com/r/NintendoSwitch/comments/675w3t/meet_rainway_from_the_developer_of_borderless/ and more to source: https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/673xd1/streaming_the_witcher_3_to_my_s8_plus_it_works/#dgnm39a
So instead of having Console Games Stream to PC, we now have PC games stream to Consoles.
huh, guess there goes Steam Link's Audience.

While riding a train? Are you sure? This is over the internet streaming? That's actually bigger, if so. I assumed this would have to be over a wifi network.
My experiences streaming gaming have not been solid. I haven't tried PS Now, but using my own PS4 to the Vita or to the Playstation App on my Mac has always had that slight input delay that irks me.
I'll keep an eye on this but I'm not holding my breath. Hoping for the best but expecting something that will just be forgotten.
