Do you think retailers purposely mark items as "currently unavailable" if the stock is plentiful?

Odd how people love to buy cardboard accessories. Even back in the 90's as a teenager I would have avoided cardboard accessories.

In my opinion, Nintendo should just release VR goggles as a plastic peripheral if they want to continue on with VR games. C'mon Nintendo, let's do Pokemon Snap VR.

Maybe not cardboard but 90's kids did buy asinine toys like pogs, furby dolls, tomagotchi, beanie babies, etc..,

If Nintendo Labo VR is selling out everywhere, then it's doing it's job.

I ask if my Daughter wants a Labo and she said nope! She's happy with her regular Switch & PC gaming. (Glad she said no, because my wallet is nearly empty lol)

Could be that they stopped producing them, or the retailers aren't getting them in, and some fools bought the last 2. Still wonder why anyone would buy this crap.

So after spending the last five years or so bashing and slagging off VR all of a sudden Nintendo fans are "on board" because Nintendo has come up with their equivalent of google cardboard.

Make your minds up, lads. Some of us were on this train a long time ago, and we've got headsets that are far better with far more games like Vive.

Nintendo is famous for under stocking their products to create false demand/hype.

They do this every single time with all their products.

Even though it sucks, it’s going to sell out when each store only gets 1 or 2.

This isn’t damage control either. Everything from accessories, amiibos, NES\SNES mini, gameboys and more is always under shipped by Nintendo.

This thing is still going to sell poorly like the rest of the cardboard.

Given the price points for these items and the age of the Xbox One at the time, this is not a very good comparison at all. Also, you cannot deny that Nintendo has a history of understocking in order to create demand. They have done this many times. You can argue that you agree with it, you can argue that it is not anti consumer, but you can't argue that they don't do it. It's a fact.

It's $100 Aud ($71 US) for the full kit or $50 ($35) just for the basic. So its cheaper than the US. The prices have become better since digital became more stream as long as you don't buy from Eb games but they do price match.

Since there’s really nothing new and/or big to play on Switch I’m not surprised.

I’m honestly kinda bored with it at the moment.

Even when I travel.

@KBFloYd: If anything, this thing is in competition with google cardboard, as it amounts to about the same quality-wise. I mean, you don't even have full movement with Labo VR, i.e. you can't "peek" around corners because it's only side to side, not forward and backward. On top of that it's not even a proper headset, as it doesn't strap to your head. It's a piece of freakin' cardboard. Come on, dude. When Nintendo comes out with an actual VR headset with full motion and higher resolution, then we'll talk. As of now, though, the competition is between Labo VR and the rest of low level mobile VR.

@goldenelementxl:

“Nintendo pledges that its new $80 Super NES Classic Edition will have dramatically increased stock compared to 2016's woefully under-shipped NES microconsole. Last year Nintendo enraged millions of gamers and retail workers across the globe with its impossible-to-find NES Classic Edition. The mini-console, which was meant to be a special holiday item, was very rare due to Nintendo massively underestimating demand and only shipping 2-5 consoles per store during the holiday season.”

“Friends and colleagues seem to have had little issue snagging one, but most of them are either on the internet all the time or know someone who is. Still, months after launch, getting your hands on a Super NES Classic seems like a hassle, just based on how they’re still being sold.”

“Nintendo fans are used to the company’s collectibles going in and out of stock quickly. When it comes to amiibo, the NFC-enabled, game-enhancing figures that are compatible with a swath of Nintendo games, many disgruntled customers who are unable to find the ones they want are resorting to making — and selling — customized, unofficial card-based versions themselves.”

This is a FACT that nintendo underships their products. History is against you.

Previous LABO kits sold like trash, so the shipped numbers are likely low. Of course it'll sell out with the weirdos. LOL! No one is that eager to be looking inside of bird asses any time soon.

Probably only shipped 50 units so that they can claim it "sold out" to generate hype. It wouldn't be the fist time Nintendo has done this.

Anyway the product is trash and isn't real VR anyway. Its competition is Google Cardboard not PSVR so I dunno why the idiot OP is comparing the two.

Gotta love how you can't deny the fact that this crap is basically the same thing as google cardboard, which isn't even real VR. Again, when Nintendo actually makes a VR headset, then we can talk. For now, buckaroo, all you have is Labo VR, which is low-res, limited, and not truly VR, so is therefore comparable only to other extremely low-end mobile VR. Sorry (not sorry), but that's the truth.

Not surprised at all. Nintendos fanbase is very good at adopting new concepts. This was proven with the Wii.

Yup, that's what I noticed too. They said PSVR isn't real VR, and they laughed their asses off at Google Cardboard and considered that low grade "trash". Even when Miyamoto criticized VR and said kids shouldn't be staring into these things and ignoring their world, Ninty fans were like "He's so right! VR is trash!" Now look at the complete acceptance of VR with this Nintendo LABO VR set.

Some Ninty fanboys, like children, they are.

Hmmm. For me it's pretty easy to see this is mainly going to be for kids who love building stuff. Not something that competes with PSVR per se. And then you get reviewers who complain that: "You are going to spend more time building it than actually playing with it." Or: "It takes 8 hours to build one of these." Like it's a flaw. Like it's just a hurdle to get to the games.

Well, duh. Building it is supposed to be part of the fun of it. It's not about the games. If you don't like building it then... I don't think it's for you. There's also understanding how things work (with explanation video's) and a software editor. The minigames are there to wow you, in the sense of: "Wow I put this together using mostly cardboard and it actually works pretty well somehow. How does this work?"

When Nintendo announced that there were going to be bits of Super Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild playable with Labo VR, I saw reactions of people who thought that this was Nintendo somehow marketing Labo VR to the core gamers. No. They did some stuff for Super Mario Kart with the Labo driving kit whatever, because Super Mario Kart sold an insane amount of copies. And now it's time to do something for the other 2 very successful games. Not because it will reel in the core gamers who want the most proficient control method for Super Mario Kart or an actual VR experience that you can wear for multiple hour sessions. Not because it's going to accelerate the sales of BOTW and SM:O that have already sold so much to the point of saturation. But for all the kids who likely have those games already. I bet you'll breeze through the SM:O bits in like 10-15 minutes. It's just a little bonus to get the kids excited and I think that's cool.

@KungfuKitten: That's exactly what Labo VR is. Always cool to see someone with a brain post things in SW aside from the usual fanboy morons "herp derp, this is nintendo's serious VR to be compared to PSVR, lulz cardboard wtf".
