Sure, always excited to get some new gameplay. But I doubt they show many other games, besides those that are coming in the next months.

I don't get excited at these anymore they usually end in disappointment.

All I hope is they don't overfocus on Donkey Kong, hopefully they announce Bayonetta 2, and even Project X release dates.

My hype is pretty low. Yeah, a bunch of other developers are retweeting posts about the Direct, and it's the longest one ever, but I am not going to get hyped about this thing until I see something in it to make me excited.

So far, the following developers are confirmed for Nintendo Direct:

  • Platinum Games (meaning Bayonetta 2)
  • Monolith Soft (meaning X)
  • Next Level Games (who knows? For reference, these are the guys behind Luigi's Mansion, Mario Strikers, and Punch Out)
  • Sakurai (Super Smash Bros)

We also know that this will be the longest Nintendo Direct to date with a running time of 41 minutes (the second longest Nintendo Direct was last E3, with 38 minutes of runtime, and an additional 3 minutes detailing Nintendo's booths), and the megaton loaded January Direct last year (at 36 minutes long).

Suffice it to say, I am excited. Let's see what Nintendo brings.

I'd say more, interested, than excited. Outside of the first two they did, the Direct's have been pretty underwhelming. I could also see them holding back for E3 announcements, but i'm sure we'll get some decent stuff out of it.

The only thing I'm excited for is X.

I'm expecting it to be for nothing however. Nintendo seems great lately at making me lower my expectations of them even more.

I only desire release dates. Though there's this feeling that something interesting will be revealed through the Direct, something more that no one is expecting.

Whatever happens, I'm sure I'll enjoy the Direct. Even when things aren't revealed and it's merely gameplay showings, it's been a nice format to get information.

According to GAF, it's for something called Shining Force.

I'm going to need someone else to help me with this one, because they seem to be losing their shit over it- what is Shining Force?

It has a following so I suppose it is, I've never played them but I know it was one of the games that was part of that large youtube scandal a while back that had Sega send out CDC notices and demand let's players take games within the series off their channels.

Aha.

Well, let's see what it is today. I doubt Shining Force will be in the Direct (or anything third party outside of indie stuff, to be quite honest), but Nintendo's own stuff should be good. Let's see what they bring, I'd be very happy with some concrete release dates for all those games, some of which they announced three years ago.

We'll find out in 2.5 hours ether way, I suppose.

I know things are slow and dead in Nintendo world, but did we need a SECOND thread on this Nintendo Direct, especially on System Wars?

It's also funny to see the Nintendo schedule this ND at 2pm/5pm PT/ET

Official January NPD results release at 3:30 PM PT.

Coincidence? Or has Nintendo mastered the art of distraction, hoping to steal attention away from NPD so there is less talk about their sucky January sales compared to PS4 and X1?

Most likely the latter.

Why not a second thread? It's better than all the crappy troll threads we see.

@charizard1605: Shining Force was genuinely a brilliant series. Final fantasy style over head exploration story based RPG with a tactical 11 on 11 team battle system. Number 2 was the best of the series. But then they abandoned the chess style battles and went action RPG and it wasn't the same. If Wii U gets a genuine Shining Force game it's a big plus for the console for me. This is the type of game it needs.

I have no idea why sega abandoned the series. Number two was one of my favourite 16 bit games.

well apart from it adding 0 value to games (blowing into microphone or swiping to unveil stuff), being clunky, sh%t battery life and negtive value/price proposition i suppose nothing is wrong with it
