Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection comes to the world of PC this June...but sadly, no Black or vanilla 2 version :(

Surprise this thread wasn't made sooner. I'm somewhat excited for the collection, but I'm also a bit sad that it is ports of Sigma 1/2 and not Black and OG 2. Total slap in the face really but still, will pick this up on Steam if the ports is legit good.

Surprised NG isn't on GP as its a MS published game.

This better do well. I want TeamNinja to know that people want a new NG game. Its been way too long.

Why did they pick the lesser Sigma versions and not the originals?!?

Ninja Gaiden Black is on GP, but it is Xbox only.

It runs really well at 4K/60fps and looks fantastic. I with they would bring it to PC (instead of this Sigma crap).

I'm just looking now and it's not their. Left back in September.

Oh well damn. Good thing I sold my X1X.

That was the only reason I got one - that and the great Banjo Kazooie BC version.

I'd forgotten NG was an OG XBOX game.

I always liked the look of these games, I hope they still hold up today;

and that they are better optimized than the Medium :P

I honestly liked Sigma better then black. Sigma was a PS3 version built ground up for the PS3 while black was built for the original Xbox. From a remaster perspective Sigma will hold up much better visually.

This is what I'm most excited about. They usually do these remaster before a new title.

Yeah, always knew it would be the lesser versions. Still great games, but eh. Will buy just to support NG coming to PC.

I knew this wasn't only coming to Switch. Will definitely get this on pc, I've been waiting a long time for these games to finally port over and I'm surprised this didn't come sooner.

Now my only reasons to keep the PS3 are MGS4 and MGS HD collection 😅

I think a big reason for this is that allot of developers were not supporting PC back in the Xbox and Xbox 360 days and now PC gaming is so popular and they realize they can make good money there now and so now allot of those game developers are releasing their new games or newest version of their games on PC that they never would have in the past and are also releasing old games that they would not do in the past, now that they know they can make money on PC and support it now much more than in the past such as they are doing here. Either way I think the more good games that get released on PC the better no matter the wait. I do have an Xbox 360 though and have played quite a bit of it on that and I enjoyed it quite a bit.

Sucks it's not the better versions, but i'll still buy as i've not actually played the games.

I think may get it on Switch as well as something more powerful. Hopefully they'll announce 4 by the time this comes out.

I played Sigma first then went to Black, asides from the Rachel missions being lame, I preferred Sigma - mostly because of the Dual katanas. For 2, I prefer the Xbox version, mostly for the gore... also the PS3 while being inferior visually still didn't have very good performance. The base game of 3 was terrible, Razor's Edge was decent.

It's coming to all systems, that explains it. I was wondering, why would they use the Sigma versions if they are potentially harder to port being PS3 games.

I'm down. Ninja Gaiden One and Two were never bettered in the genre imo.

@silentchief: Both Sigma games were built for the ps3, both were built by newbies and kinda a test to see how capable they were and both where lesser versions then the originals missing lots of extras.

@vfighter: If I remember correctly they added alot of extras as well. I believe Sigma was the first to add dual Katanas and it was the first game to use the new engine.

With NG2 vs NGS2 I thought it was an even trade off with each version having its advantages.

Edit. Actually after doing research I was wrong on NGS2 as it scaled back the gore and dismemberment. I hope they add that.

Both of the Sigma games add new content. It's just that for a lot of people, said content isn't welcome as it's undercooked or straight up bad.

yeah ill be buying it on switch, i love the series (not really 3) kinda pissed its not black or vanilla NG2. Sigma took out all the blood and gore from 2.... and my god did the gore add a lot to the style. Loved dismembering crawling foes in 2 At least i still have it on 360...

Collection choice is annoying, but could be as simple as - Sigma has the most up to date graphics, lets go.

But I suspect there's some company politics in there. Surely they know which versions the overwhelming amount of fans prefer. But those are Itagaki games. Hayashi is head honcho producer now and was director of the Sigma games.

Wish they'd just release them all and let fans decide.

As an aside, NGB and NG2 are both enhanced bc now. Cleaned up image quality + flawless performance. Bought a XBX just for those, no regrets.

Well, thankfully, I bought Ninja Gaiden Black earlier a couple years back on Xbox. But I kind of want to support this compilation. I mean, come on! It's been a HELL of a long time since we've had many Ninja Gaiden's on Nintendo (yeah we had Dragon Sword and 3, but... no one remembers those games fondly...)

Black doesn't have better effects its an OG xbox game. It would however look sharper if it's being played on a Xbox one over the native PS3 version.

I'm more worried about 2. I hope they keep the gore and enemy count.

Yeah i agree, seems like they are doing it to appease Hayashi. Would be nice to just get all of them, at least for PC.

Im probably going to get it for the switch first for portable. Really like playing bayonetta 2 in portable, NG would be a nice collection for it.

and yeah man that looks super clean on the series X! i still have my copies of NG on og xbox and 360. I have a pretty large collection of 360 and OG xbox games still. Once i upgrade my living room console i plan on picking up the series x, i went PS4 and Switch this last gen and skipped the One.

The super clean look is nice, but the biggest difference is the performance in Ninja Gaiden 2. Perfect. Even the infamous staircase has no dips.

I believe that it was announced in the latest Nintendo Direct that a Ninja Gaiden collection was coming to the switch at some point.

Hopefully. I probably wouldn't use it much, but would be nice to mess around with. Might also help with bringing in some of their Nioh userbase.

Without Tomonobu Itagaki and some of his team there, you're looking at a Ninja Gaiden game as bad as Ninja Gaiden 3.

Three is the only bad one though.

They did Nioh without him. From a technical standpoint they have fallen off but they realize nobody wants tons of QTE's in an action game so maybe they will nail the gameplay.

Sigma and Sigma 2 are still great action games. They add some fluff content and tweaks that aren't exactly appreciated, but still just remixes on a great foundation. Like if NGB and NG2 didn't exist, and it was just the Sigmas, they'd be the ones renowned as some all time greats for the genre.

Plenty of difficulty settings too, don't have to go full masacore.

And since these aren't Itagaki games, won't make you wear a pink ribbon for choosing lowest difficulty.

But it seems Hayashi, dude who directed the Sigmas and eventually NG3, is in more of a producer role now.

If they kick this one over to the main director behind Nioh, could be good stuff. Hope he just understands that while Nioh combat is great for what it is, it's not Ninja Gaiden.

If they expand on the combat style of NG2, while delivering a game as balanced and polished as NGB, could be amazing.

Nah, if you haven't tried them, its still a buy. its a good collection. My biggest gripe is they took out the gore and blood in 2. The NG games are still some of the best hack n slash games to ever release. (3 has some issues but 1&2 are excellent) Seriously i put NG1&NG2 above the DMC and God of War series by a mile.

Yup. If anything, NG2 has the best combat system of the bunch. Expands the combos of the original weapon sets while adding new dope ass weapons like Tonfas, Kusarigama, Scythe, (fully developed) Dual Katanas, etc. Then of course the dismemberment stuff.

Only reason I don't prefer it to NG1 is that the enemy, boss, and encounter designs in general aren't as good.
