No, I doubt it. But they may disable Kinect for some games that want that 10%. That's the most likely thing from the sound of it... they could allow developers to disable Kinect so Microsoft didn't look like the bad guys when people realized they wouldn't be able to say "Record That" etc.. The PS4 uses some of it's GPU for it's own resources so it's likely around 1.7 TF. So the Xbox One is going to be closer but the PS4 is still going to be a little more powerful. Now if Cloud computing can offload some resources on some Xbox One games you'll see some really impressive games in the next few years. I think one could be a new Crackdown 3 for physics.

I'm not denying that there are people that are really enjoying their XB1/PS4 and I think that's great. But for me specifically I just don't have a reason to own one yet. I've owned playstation and xbox every generation so far, so I expect this gen to be no different. I'm hoping e3 will be great this year for Sony, MS, and Nintendo.

The hardware is static, dang. I thought with enough updates it was going to go into beast mode, but I forgot they used cheaper and weaker parts and charged more for the machine.

I have both and I don't agree with that other hardcore fanboy slanted user (revealed in previous threads) at all with regards to owning both. He's all about selling Xbones every other sentence. I hardly use my PS4/Xbone, but I use my PS4 far more often than the Xbone. I bought at launch. PS4 gets multiplats due to performance (what I did with 360 last gen) and few exclusives. Xbone is used for few exclusives. Neither are in that OMG buy me! mode to me, but I always pick up the new toys at launch.

Other facts:

PS+ has given 9 games to PS4 since launch. It's just this month of JUNE that M$ finally are getting around to offering Games with Gold for Xbone, so maybe things will improve. Sony's been banging out PS+ games since launch. I'm not glad I own both, but it is what it is. My Wii U gets more play than either, but only slightly, but the most play in the house honestly is the PC and PS3. The 360 sort of tapered off on exclusives and I just finished some Wii games in my backlog. Moving along steady.

Granted these systems are closer to PC than anything But it's literally all up to development.
We saw what first party studios eeked out of Gen seven systems but the consoles were never at a better position than where they started.
Did software and dev kits get better? Yeah of course. But there's nothing out there that's physically in the system now that will make it better.

We went through it last gen, and it was bad enough. The X1 is the weaker console this gen, but as long as it has some solid games, then who cares?

Exactly. We'll definitely get improvements, as engines and the like improve, but definitely no magic sauce.

The only thing cheaper and weaker is the GPU and core ram ddr5 vs ddr3. Hopefully the esram can close that gap. I'll believe it when I see it though.

Bingo, the question is what can MS do in the long term if it doesn't catch on (which is a possibility). I mean people talk and consumers talk we're a small minority but with a big voice. If people hear what's better from us the people who don't understand start talking regardless we argue about every stupid minuscule detail. But to the average joe, if they hear the PS4 does 1080P and 60FPS and the games run better on the PS4 that's all they need.

IMO MS has to really get a handle on a lot of solid games. I mean I hate to see them just throw money and toss around the competition and strong arm the games industry but it can very well happen but it won't happen as we have said with secret sauce.

What are you all going on about? The issues with how you feel about Microsoft and the industry have little to do with what has happened with the update. It was stated before that they are just going to allow developers to determine if the additional features that where running in system background for kinect are needed for the game if not the total available resources will be increased. Its not "secret sauce" they are telling you exactly how they are doing it, its as simple as if you opened your task manager and shut down some of the background programs running on windows. You guys are blowing this up.

40-50% more powerful in sheer GPU throughput. MUCH moreso on overall system bandwidth.
