New Watch Dogs tech video shows off PS4 version.

Here is a new video showing off some of the graphics tech being used in the game. Apparently it uses footage from the PC PS4 version.

"Direct from the developers from Montreal, we have received exclusive 1080p scenes from the PC version of the watchdog. The clips show what provides the engine of Ubisoft in lighting effects, tessellation and wind simulation."

Guten tag to you too. I don't really speak German, but the video is interesting. There's definitely some really fantastic tech being used in this game. I can't wait to explore this virtual Chicago.

Nothing particularly impressive shown there to me, not for pc hardware at least. Does look quite nice though.

Best on PC isn't a lifestyle, its a fact.

Pc hardware is to far in front of the software and it's been like that for a while. The last time I can think of a game breaking the gpu bank was 2007 Crysis. I can't think of a single pc game that will max the highest end card at 1080p, the only thing these cards can do now is increased frame rate and resolution.

Meh, I'm a PC gamer and I'm still probably just going to buy this on PS4. I doubt my 7870 is gonna be powerful enough to run all of those fancy exclusive effects.

Anyone else notice at 2:40 to 2:50 that the speed boats made no ripples at all in the water?

@scatteh316: GTX 780ti, 290x, titan black, titan z, gtx 690, 7970ghz can all run those games easily at 1080p.

I have a single 770 and I run those games at max settings 1440p with low AA anywhere from 38-60fps I average usually around 45-50 at most times. So No those games don't max out the highest end cards at 1080p.

1080p is nothing for modern high end cards to do. You don't see these cards really sweat till you up the resolution to 1440p.

Anyway is there an english version of that video?

I don't understand. Ubisoft wasn't given any hardware restrictions for the PC version yet Watch Dogs is still a huge downgrade from E3 2012..

I honestly don't see how that is a downgrade. It looks more impressive than anything I saw in the 2012 demo.

That looked extremely similar to the ps4 footage we've seen thus far. The fact this titles cross gen is really going to hold it back.

Honestly, I am not a fan of Killzone Shadow Fall, but its cityscape defiantly looked better than this.

new graphics engine doesnt look as good as the old one. this looks just like the ps4 verison.

As I've been saying. If you want a quality experience, get it on PC.

But if you want an exclusive outfit for Aiden, get it on PS4.

Because they are dividing the content of this game over 'deluxe' editions, console versions, dlc, etc.

Yeah, Ubisoft loves doing this in its games it seems: Far Cry 3, AC, and now Watch Dogs.

I wouldn't really care if it was MP stuff or a skin or something, but they are actually cutting hours of SP content and dividing it over different versions.

I would like to play this game next month, but I'm not going to pay full price for 3/4th of a game. I'm going to wait.

Looks really good. Hope my 7850 can get good settings and performance. Gonna grab the Wii-U version once it releases too.

Don't know about graphics cards, but the system requirements they once released said it required an I7 for recommend settings.

Yep, it has been confirmed to be PS4 footage. I said "apparently it uses footage from the PC version" because that is what was stated on the site where I got the video. I never said anything about it looking better than the PS4 version or anything like that. I said it looked impressive and I still think it looks impressive.

Ubisoft blocked that one, but thanks for telling me the name, I'll search another video ;)

yeah ill be picking this up for PC. This is a game that should be enjoyed at it's best ps4 and X1 will just gimp that experience.

I don't agree. Not in technical terms at least. But it's a moot point anyway, since it's basically just a backdrop in KZSF.

Here is what Digital Foundry had to say about the KZSF cityscape scene:

"The city sprawl effect is achieved in real-time through clever instancing of geometry, which duplicates vertex data on buildings, aircraft and the trees far below."

"The city guards, buildings, trees and aircraft are instanced to minimise the amount of vertex data committed to the PS4's RAM"

"It's well-disguised, with structures at the city basin rendered in real-time but duplicated at all manner of angles to create the illusion of a city sprawl"

"The reflection-mapping across the city's many skyscrapers may be mesmerising on first sight, but on closer analysis it's clear these surfaces aren't mirroring nearby geometry at all. When you aren't actually exploring the city you aren't going to notice the instanced geometry nearly as easily.
