Tech giant LG conducted a scientific experiment to determine who's community of gamers are better at video games... Nintendo apparently didn't get to play.

"More than 1,400 gamers participated in LG’s Elite Reaction Test, created in partnership with Activision," the press release explained.

"PC gamers happened to fare the worst, with an average reaction accuracy of 67.7%, compared to Xbox players who had an average accuracy of 77.1%."

"When taking the test, users were required to click on targets that faded from green to red as quickly as possible to help increase their score. The overall reaction score a player received was based on a number of different factors including: Accuracy, Targets hit, Targets missed and how quickly the target was hit."

Wow... So all this time we've wondered and LG decided to measure it out with the scientific process of all things...

Welp, congrats Xbox Gamers. You are the kings of the couch. PC gamers can hang their head in shame and playstation gamers barely register a pulse of gaming skills, but most important, we now know the truth!

Well duh. Games like Halo, Forza, Gears, and Cuphead require dexterity and skill - especially when multiplayer is a factor. I’m not sure how a sony movie game with easy platforming or QTEs you can’t fail make you a better gamer. Especially in single player games with scripted AI. While a pc player should be on par with an Xbox gamer - they may skew older so their reaction times could be slower. All of these are facts you simply can’t dispute.

So much for that snap that mouse can do lol. But in all seriousness are these just causal players or pro's?

No it's because PC is only good for lame turn-based games and turn-based RPG's and turn-based everything. You literally have infinite time allowed to react on PC. We don't play anything but turn-based games on PC. Usually with a retro presentation that totally wastes our 2000-dollar video card's potential.

I think the reason I'm better than than all my friends and family at videogames is because I've played difficult as hell Nintendo games since I was a toddler. I bet there are lots of other people like me.

With the Sony vs Xbox thing, I think it's pretty accurate. The little games Xbox has at least don't play themselves.

Pc gamers were probably complaining about the controller the whole time. Ps4 gamers had a delay due to confusion of whether they had control or not. Nintendo didn't get to play because the test was for adults only.

Hmm, this "test" doesn't really prove or validate much to be honest. Maybe if this were maybe 10,000 gamers I'd put a lil more faith in this study.

There are nearly 100 million PS4 gamers and 150 million PC gamers so I wouldn't be trying to put much validity in this.

I've noticed it depends on the game. Xbox gamers seem to be better at shooters but PS gamers are better at fighters.

Regardless it's funny PC is dead last...! Guess those low skill mobas don't require much reaction time.

Never mind the fact that the sample size is laughable (seriously couldn't even get an even 1k from each group to conduct this test) The tests talking about "clicking" like, WTF kind of test is that to test skills?

I guess if all you're playing are shooters than you'd be better an shooting, which seemed to be what the test were focused on.

This is how I see it.

Xbox = Better twitch at shooters

PS = better at skill based fighters/hack n slash/beatem ups

PC = better at point and click RTS/MOBA

Lol good one.....personally I play a lot of games that require good hand to eye coordination and reflexes, its why I love playing Forza online. I try to balance it out with story driven titles which for me are more relaxing.

But I just finished Ashen yesterday and the final boss was a nice challenge. It really depends on the type of game

This isn't surprising. PC has the most casuals and exponentially more gamers in general, lowering it's average. It also has the most professional and competitive gamers, but the casuals outnumber them so heavily.

That being said, PC is still the best system for competitive and e-sports gaming, and still has the highest skill caps/cielings. Especially for shooters (which this seems aimed at).

Even if this was true, XBOX is relegated to thumbsticks for most shooters. Meaning that reaction time means little vs a shooter that everyone uses KB/M for.

Twitch shooters on consoles are kind of a joke. Especially in a professional setting.

I'd believe that. I'd guess PC gamers tend to be older on average which would result in the lowest reaction times. I bet if you took PC gamers from competitive shooters like Counter Strike, you'd have some of the fastest reaction times though. I'd be interested to see a distribution of reaction times per platform, not just an average.

That's the problem, we don't know what the quality control of the users in sample size was if any at all. casual/intermediate/professional?

Also, it's not 100% clear what the user interface was that was used to conduct the tests. controller/mouse/joystick?

Also what was the target? A shooter/Fighter/racer?

I'm sure if the test were conducted on a RTS PC gamers would demolish console gamers. This test is too limited to prove much of anything.

I say PC games have a higher skill cap. Because they objectively do, due to thumbstick being limited vs kb/m in terms of speed and precision.

This limited study looks at the gamers, not the games.

There is a reason e-sports and competitive gaming is 90%+ PC. Because that's were all the high skill cap games are.

Studies show they would not do as well against the superior console gamers due to their lower skill level. Even with KB+M they were less accurate.

PC has exponentially more high skillcap genres and games. Thus it holds 99% of e-sports. PS4 has around 2. Thus it holds less than 5% of e-sports.
