Just picked up one today as they were being delivered to the NYC Gamestop I shop at. For now they are in the new Last of Us bundle and has the model code CUH-1215A on the box. *Make sure to have the Gamestop employee show this to you because they may still have some of the older models in the store and they may not know the difference. My PS4 uses the least amount of power of any console I have owned ( because it's mostly off )

The biggest difference is the change to the double-density Samsung memory modules. Instead of 16x512MB GDDR5, the new model has 8x1GB GDDR5. They consume less energy and because there are half of them, there is a significant reduction in heat.

Godo that they are updating hardware, and actually good that no new features came with it because i'd hate to be an early adopter to get screwed out of a new feature. ....Ahem, 360 hdmi port...

@nyadc: I've learned to live with it. When it gets to 1 or 2 bars I plug in the controller and go do something else for for a little while. Throw the ball for the dog, wash dishes, watch TV, etc. Most of the time when I come back its fully charged.

People were whining that the DS4 has half the battery life of the DS3. IMO it's closer to 2/3.

Nah...the DS3s got about 20+ hours of battery life. The DS4s are lucky to get 7 hours of battery. Even less if you use the headphone jack and have the useless light bar turned up.

Nothing that i'm interested in. The only thing I want out of the PS4, is a longer lasting battery in the controller.

Actual street dates weren't announced hence "stealth" release.

It's obvious they are doing it because it's cheaper to make and better, win win. Not sure about the mechanical buttons though, they did the same with the PS3 fat to slim, I quite like the capacitive switch.

If It's quieter as they say I may have to get one down the line because my ps4 is unusually loud but I thought this was normal since I play it 4+ hours every day.

All they did was trim production cost by buying things on sale from China. Still the same hunk of shit PS4.

Mine just came in the mail today and I was surprised when I saw the model #, I had no idea they had already released the 1200. It's funny because I was feeling bad thinking I should have waited for 1200 instead of ordering the older model. I guess it worked out in the end.

Currently close to 400 to play and enjoy on current gen 8 console leader! By golly there's games for everyone and SONY has done a remarkable job giving us a continual stream of games.

Added that 2 games for the PS4 have been reviewed and scored the coveted 10/10 and by gosh people are buried in games to play.

I thank my lucky stars each night that I have gamefly otherwise, I would have to get a 2nd mortgage to play all the games for PS4. Goodness gracious its insane!

That's what astonishing about Wiiu, when June rolled around 6 games total had come out for 2015. 1 TOTAL a month, They need the games. Meanwhile SONY is doing a noble effort really.

None actually. I actually went to the store and tried my PS4 disk in a X1 and WiiU that wasn't mine to show mutual honest posting and the games wouldn't boot. I also asked the salesperson and he ensured me they wouldn't play in any other device than current gen 8 console leader PS4. Chip then went on to show me the entire wall of games to play on PS4 and showed how much larger it was than Wiiu. which is ironic since the WiiU has been out longer.

Chip couldn't tell me why this was but speculated it was Sony's by gamers FOR gamers mantra and working close with developers to bring out a steady stream of content for the PS4. When Chip said that it made sense that PS4 has 400+ games to play on the system.

Chip was just as astounded as I at the Wiiu's lack of games to play on the system and commented on the brisk pre-sales of upcoming Battle Front, COD and MGS V on PS4. Chip think they are going to sell extremely well. I tend to think so, but I wont comment out of order. I dont do that.

We'll wait for the official NPD's, but since the PS4 has won the last 2 months, it could mean Chip is on to something.

YOU implied there aren't 400+ games to play on PS4 and the only thing consumers play or want to play is exclusives. You know it's the entire library of games, which makes both X1 and PS4 infinity more appealing than Wiiu.

I own all the consoles and a gaming PC, but I guess I enjoy games where you love to HATE. Odd given the fact that with good competition everyone benefits and is the main reason Sony turned it around and strives to get it right with PS4.

lol thats just awesome under two years and they remove the touch button and replace it with a mechanical? why didn't you just do this from the start sony? Its not as If the tech wasn't available, wasn't far more tried and tested, wasn't cheaper...etc
