No offense, but is the Atelier series really a stellar JRPG series? This gen is so disappointing.
Nippon Ichi is great for quirky games, but I highly doubt their ability to make compelling, serious storylines.

I am so mad at Capcom. It wouldn't be so bad if UC wasn't so TERRIBLE. If I remember correctly, they originally intended it to be a scenario game but quickly changed it to a rail shooter. Which seems to make sense, because halfway through the game it turns to PS2 levels and the effort put into the game is laughable. Nemesis - with a robot voice that sounds like it was simply altered through a freeware wave editor? REALLY Capcom?
I guess I'll just have to keep buying amazing PS1 games. Sadly, the best games I bought last gen were PS1 games I found (like Xenogears in mint condition found in a gamestop).
Of course, there will be and are great games this gen. I'm personally looking forward to Heavy Rain and Final Fantasy XIII - which I hope will be a solid JRPG.
never heard of this franchise before, is this a japanese only release?
zarshack
No, there were a few JRPGs on the PS2. Look them up. They don't seem to be anything special.

I actually like the series alot.
Darn it, I want more JRPG's with less anime-ish and childish characters! Is that really too much to ask for?

Not to kill your buzz but how is it 'continuing the roll' when all you have seen of this game is a 100 word blurb on a PS3 website?http://www.ps3center.net/news/2450/new-ps3-exclusive-jrpg-atelier-rorona-announced/

Nope. It's what a cliche JRPG is.
A PS3/PC Sci-Fi RPG game called Mars was announced earlier today as wellUndertakerVsHBK
Posted a thread about it like 2 minutes ago :P. Go check it out :D

I played Atelier Iris, and it was shockingly archaic. Not bad, but old-fashioned. I doubt they'll move to 3D on this. You want WRPG thenDarn it, I want more JRPG's with less anime-ish and childish characters! Is that really too much to ask for?

Nope, I want more mature turn-based JRPG's. We've already had some, so I don't see the need for all the cliches that have made the genre get old and tiresome over the years.

I can't think of any besides Last Remnant. Are you talking about games only out this gen?Excellent. Day one buy for me when it makes it's way over here since I've been trying to get my hands on whatever games Nippon Ichi makes or publishes.

Lost Odyssey
Persona franchise
I know both have their share of JRPG cliches, but they offer maturity, too. The great thing about LO is that Kaim, Seth, Jansen, etc, aren't whiny emo tween boys or girls. The only 2 childish characters ARE children so it's understandable.

My faith in the industry as a whole is basically non existant since we here as gamers sit back and realize the stupid decisions they make but some how they don't notice. I want to say Capgod shocked me but they didn't, I predicted this, and that is the sad part. I have played few games this gen that I have actually been excited for from announcement to release date. Sad, the gen is great for people who are intersted in certain types of games but for me, well I'll just go back to playing my SNES and PS1. Someone wake me when something interesting is announced. Oh, and Umbrella Chronicles sucked as well.
Anyway, lets see where Ichi takes this, could be interesting.

It's possible, but knowing NIS - I'm not sure.

Complety forgot about those. I have never played LO yet but I heard its an underrated gem. I'd have to buy it online, nobody has it anymore in stores[QUOTE="finalfantasy94"][QUOTE="hakanakumono"]
