New Gears of War Not Coming to Xbox 360

No way, an X1 Exclusive eh? Well perhaps not, they'll likely bring it to PC as well since by the time Gears 4 comes X1 / PC will be running windows 10. :o Or not :P

Anyhoo, I can't wait for more info and vids on Gears 4 come this E3

With the powah of SecretSauce, DX12 & StormCloud, Gears 4 will no doubt be graphics king for years & years. :P

Microsoft's upcoming Gears of War game will launch exclusively for Xbox One--an Xbox 360 version of the untitled project is not in development. That's according to Black Tusk's Jack Felling, who revealed the (albeit unsurprising) news on Twitter recently.

This rules out any possibility that the new Gears of War game will be a cross-generation title. Such games are becoming increasingly rare, as studios shift to development exclusively for new consoles.

A PC version of the upcoming Gears of War game has not been announced, though it also has not been ruled out.

In other recent Gears of War news, Microsoft has confirmed that a "Marcus Fenix Collection," which would presumably bundle remastered versions of the first three games, is not in development for Xbox One. Some kind of Gears of War news, however, is expected to be announced this summer at E3.

Microsoft acquired the Gears of War franchise in January 2014, buying the action series from creator Epic Games for an undisclosed sum. As part of the deal, Microsoft put its new Black Tusk development team to work on a brand-new Gears of War game for Xbox One.

This game is making "fantastic progress," according to Xbox boss Phil Spencer. The game is not a reboot, but aims to return to the franchise's dark and gritty roots.

The Gears of War franchise is one of the Xbox platform's leading series. It has spanned four titles so far:Gears of War (2006), Gears of War 2 (2008), Gears of War 3 (2011), and Gears of War: Judgment (2013). Together, the games have sold more than 22 million copies and generated over $1 billion. Gears of War Exile, rumored to be a Kinect-enabled spinoff, was canceled.

Won't it be using UE4? I haven't heard of any games coming to 360 using that engine.

Good, it's about time they forced consumers hands. Can't support a near decade old console anymore.

I think enough time would have gone by when the next Gears launches that folks that were a bit burned out with Gears, me included, will be ready for another especially if it's done really well both story & game-play and yeah man, I'm so interested in what this new dev Black Tusk will be able to do with the games visuals and it's great they are not doing the game for the 360 so no cross gen with this bad boy. :D

Cowinkydinky, I plan on DL'ing Gears Judgment free GWG 360 today when I get home. Never played that one and kinda looking forward to playing a Gears game again. I haven't played Gears 3 in a year or two so it should be kewl. :P

So what's the point of having an X1 if PC is getting its first party games?

Console gamers want to game on consoles, seems simply enough, I haven't wanted to mess with PC gaming in a decade or more, I just like knowing the game will run the way it's meant to right outta the box, no fuss, no muss. Also, for now it does say launching Exclusively for X1 and I was just getting out ahead of SW by noting it may come to PC as well. :P

Good to know. Shouldn't make it at all, time to upgrade people, say no to cross-gen and hello to current-gen that is Xbox One. [PS4 also] I hope MS and Black Tusk show at least a tease trailer for the new Gears of War at E3 2015 which I am really excited to see. [Crosses fingers]

That's what I figured. They can't tether themselves to last gen consoles forever. Will be interesting to see how they expand the gameplay for the next gen. I can't even imagine how good it will look on UE4 either. Probably similar to Unreal Tornament 2015.

Seriously? I know it was the lowest scoring Gears game by far so wasn't expecting all too much from it just figured it would be fun to mess with a Gears game again and see what the story was all about.

That's a big 10 4 ghost rider since I bought my X1 as a BF deal with MCC DL code packed in, connected X1 up over Christmas week and proceeded to play all four Halos in a row without a hitch. True story. :)

Dude we all know that MCC didn't work right out of the box. And the whole put the game in and it works as expected thing has been becoming less and less over time. It's not really the fault of consoles but rather the publishers/devs who push out games and then patch them later

I know bud but seems like semantics to me. Let's just let it go and acknowledge some gamers just prefer consoles, like me, that's not saying PC isn't as good or better in some circumstances it just is what it is as they say. ;)

That's why we have those cross-gen FP games like Screamride.

Honestly I was almost getting concerned that MS would have been the only one still pushing out Cross-gen turns out that they won't. So far.

I hope the brand new dev, Black Tusk, working on their first game can hit a home run on their first try at bat with the latest GeoW. Their new IP was killed for this game, but it makes sense since GeoW is a known commodity.

I never imagined that GeoW4 was going to be a cross-generation title, so this news doesn't surprise me. Actually, I would have been shocked if this news was the other way around.

Not sure how I feel about a new one. I love GeoW, but I'm not exactly yearning for more of that. I do want to see it though, and I will end up buying it. Probably.

So, Gears 4 and Halo 5 will not be on the 360? Seems to me like MS is finally starting to force 360 owners to adopt a XB1.

One should expect there to be changes. and if you thought the stars and moon of the previous games then you won't feel the same about judgement.

Last-gen consoles need to stop holding back next-gen consoles.

Gears has gone multiplat. It's coming to X1, PS4 and PC in the fall of 2016. Apparently Epic cut ties with Microsoft but held the rights to the series.

@Lulu_Lulu: I agree, but some of the changes were unnecessary. A big part of the Gears community pretends the game doesn't exist lol. I'm hoping Gears 4 returns to it's roots.

Halo 5 was not coming to X360, why GOW whatever should be ?

I learned of the Gears of War series about a day or two after purchasing my PlayStation 3 back in 2008. I was watching a playlist at GameTrailers on which a gameplay video of GeOW2 popped up; it was from the sequence that takes place on a huge convoy that's traversing an area infested by Locusts. I was blown away by the intensity of the action; watching Marcus Phoenix bombard these hideous, grey skinned aliens with bullets was thrilling and watching him use the same gun with which he projected those bullets into them to saw them into pieces was - simply put - awesome. Complementing the incredible gameplay were - at the time - the best graphics I had ever seen; its high-resolution texture mapping and rich color-shading were very impressive. I said to myself, 'I've got to play that game.' So, imagine how disappointed I was upon learning that it would not be available on the PlayStation 3. That moment marked the inception of my desire to purchase an Xbox 360, which I eventually did (I purchased GeOW1 to prepare myself for the sequel).

Sadly, however, though I was content with GeOW1, playing it merely as an appetizer for the main course and subsequently looking over its linearity and repetitive gameplay, I wound up being disappointed by Gears of War 2, because it brought nothing new to the table; the only aspects of it that I liked were the aforementioned sequence that takes place on a convoy and its graphics. Hence, I've come to sort of like - not love - the franchise.

Subsequently, I'm quite interested in the fact that it's being developed by a new team, because maybe its gameplay mechanics can now become varied and exciting.

actually owning the franchise doesn't mean anything anymore we have seen what happened to franchises once the real dev teams leave

this is waht happens when the original dev team moves on and you own the franchise you get worst games and the crew who made the standout game

what your left with is a soul less mess that kills franchises

just cuz microsoft owns gears doesn't mean epic has to build it for them they could make there own new franchise all microsoft owns is the name so it means nothing in this day an age

It would've been franchise suicide to push a 5th gears game out on 360.... As if people aren't fatigued at this point to be in with.

Not surprised. It needs to die with 360 in a good way, and time to move forward on the more powerful brother.
