Naughty Dog promises exciting news for Last of Us Part 2 this Saturday

In a tweet this morning, Naughty Dog promised to share "a lot of exciting things" for The Last of Us Part II on Saturday, September 26. This community-centric date was formerly known as Outbreak Day, but going forward, the developer is swapping over to The Last of Us Day branding in light of COVID-19.

Are we going to see the multiplayer reveal on Saturday? I'm feeling hopeful.

As relayed in September 2019, the studio prioritized wrapping up the story. It came to the realization that the planned "evolution" of Factions had grown "beyond an additional mode that could be included with our enormous single-player campaign." At the time, Naughty Dog said that players would "eventually experience the fruits of our team's online ambition, but not as part of The Last of Us Part II."

In August 2020, a rough but unmistakable clip showed leaked multiplayer footage.

There are a ton of unknowns about Factions – when, where, and how much? – but I like the movement and gunplay enough in Part II to want to face off against other players, and The Last of Us Day seems like the right place to lift the lid. Weaving through the grass, getting the jump on someone – I'm in.

I hope they announce multiplayer! It's the only reason I've been keeping my copy of Last of Us 2 lol. I'm thinking it will happen. What about you, SW? Are you interested in Last of Us 2 multiplayer?

Maybe story DLC where they go back in time and revive Joel and then they go as far back as the first game to when there wasn't any giraffes

If they don't have Factions, they may as well not even show. I guess they're saving it for the PS5 launch window.

I hope there is a survival mode, i dont want horde mode...give me survival like in rise of the tomb raider.

If its anything like "Left Behind" its always a nice welcome DLC for Part 2. I don't expect a remastered PS5 version since PS5 is BC with PS4 exclusives.

Yes of course.

MP most likely won't require your copy of TLOU II. They can't expect people to hold onto it after 3+ months and then decide to announce that MP will not be stand alone.

I am anticipating MP to be a stand alone download title for $30, or if we're really lucky just a free download.

Of course they had to change the name because 'the outbreak' was yesterday against them. :D

I thought the story was excellent too.

Only interested in a story expansion, not multiplayer. If there's a story expansion that is 5 hours plus, i will repurchase the game and play it on the ps5.
