this would be the stupidest thing they could ever do....MS isnt just a gaming company, 44 billion is way to much money for them to spend all on gaming....they buyout of yahoo, wasnt even gaming related at all.

SE would lose way too much money if they went MS exclusive. The purchase would be a total waste especially since there are many games that never make their way to the states and I don't think that Japanese gamers would buy a 360 just for Square.

And how come everyone just thinks it's Square and PS3? They make games for Wii, DS, and PSP which are > than 360 sales individually.

having money doesnt mean you can just buy whatever you want, the yahoo thing just proves that.

the company has to be willing to sell before you can buy them, and theres more money in teh long run for these companies if they stay independent

Its not quite as simple as that. MS wont invest 44billion if they dont think that they will make the money back. as lucrative as the gaming market is, epic and square enix games will not make over 44billion.

What are you 12?

Anyway, no competition = bad, but if this did happen then Nintendo and Sony would be forced to step up their games and we might see the best first/second party games ever.

You know most of that money is from Windows right? why would they splash out on a project thats barely netting them any steady income?

People seem to forget the Xbox division is pretty much still expendable.

The money that was turned down by Yahoo isn't money that can be spent for other things, because this money had to first be approved by investors and then the company would have to be for sale. These game developers would most likely cost a lot more than the Yahoo offer. Because gaming has gotten to be a very big business now. Just think that it cost at least 50 million to have small exclusives in a single game.

Two problems with that:

1. Microsoft probably has more important things than their gaming division

2. Most of those companies would probably refuse to be bought since there's a lot more money to be made with multiplat games
