I think motion aiming gets a bad rap. People assume that motion takes total control of where you aim your reticule on screen. When in reality, games like Splatoon 2 and Wolfenstein 2 on switch use it to assist your aiming. It doesn't replace the second analog stick. Instead it adds a little extra nuance to where you aim for added accuracy and speed. The added speed is an incredible bonus. If only this became a standard on console FPSs. They have no idea what they're missing.

I'm sure the VR adds to it as well. Would love to try that out.

I think, in general, this is a good direction to take FPS on console. Of course, I say that as someone religiously devout to kb/m, but well-thought out motion controls are a reasonable facsimile for nuance.

This isn't new technology. The Steam controller has this ability with the built-in gyroscope. The video I saw certainly looked to be more accurate than sticks, but extended play looks uncomfortable.

Not new but also not widely used in this capacity.

A shitty frame rate and down to 360p resolution, could not give a toss how good controls are.

Or you could play the game with the best graphics, best framerate and precise controls, all in glorious 21:9 on PC.

If gamers got over their prejudice of 'waggle' they could enjoy superior ways to game. I've yet to see anything beat motion controls for FPS, and I wish Fortnite would support it.

Best. Shooting. Ever. My only problem is the VR rifle tended to float too much requiring recalibration too often.

Or gamers could try it repeatedly and find it always inferior to twin stick analogue controls.

Tried it in multiple Wii games, multiple Kinect games (different tech I know) and even a couple of Move games and I always just wanted a damn X360 controller.

Dude, motion controls are superior to dual analogue sticks for FPS in every way. I'm sorry, but it is. I used to be skeptical until I actually tried it. They were excellent in Twilight Princess with shooting arrows and the slingshot. I loved using motion controls in the Wii series and Just Dance. The only time gyros sucked was with the gamepad because it was awkward as hell. Though with the wii motes and joy cons, they're perfect.

Easy? Hardly. Even still, I don't like the idea of flawed controls making the game harder artificially.

I gave up on RE4 on the GameCube because I hated aiming with the sticks. Missing in survival horror games really pisses me off. I bought it again when it came out on the Wii and ended up loving it so much because of the motion aiming that I beat it four times, even on Hard. When RE5 came out on the 360, I gave up after 1-1. Playing with sticks again after motion aiming was horrible. At least for me anyway.

Yeah it's a game changer alright. As in you'll switch to another game console after hitting 360p.

I will admit they're better in a slow paced horror game. When things are slower and more deliberate and every bullet counts, motion controls can add some realism and tension that DA miss. However for any game that requires any sort of speed, movement or camera control? Fuhgeddaboutit!

The Old Blood and The New Colossus support it flawlessly.

The New Order has some flaws, but is ultimately playable in 21:9. It's just that some tutorial messages get stuck in the side of your screen, lol.

Here are some of my screens of The New Colossus in 21:9:

i have to say using the joycons works better for me in motion aiming. in both wolfenstein and fortnite than the pro controller.
