@metalslimenite: Double Cross is the Extended version of Generations, not actually Generations.
Also it hasn't been confirmed for The West yet, probably saving that for E3.
Well, so much for that threat over USFII.
Probably announced this to damage control some of the hate they were getting, at least to some degree. Granted, one article I read had an update where they clarified their statement a little better.
Is this a Switchy Monster Hunter game or a port from 3DS?. :P
Very likely a port I'm afraid... XX is on the 3DS in Japan I think... But still it being on the big screen and the dual stick controls would be so much better for me already.
And I heard some very good things they did with new styles. Basically they made it so you can do more for each other in combat regardless of your weapon. There is a keg shaking style and the more you shake the keg in combat, you can get some positive effects for the team. You don't need to have the Hunting Horn now to be a team healer.
So next time you make your team fly away with the switch axes Ultra Burts, shake that keg. Oh and they added a style that, once charged up by attacking lots I think, will let you swing your weapon much faster and easier to combo. The style can also eat hits. So that might be cool for people who want a more 'spammy' type berserker style that starts off a little slow but then goes nuts.
@aki2017: id say itll be like tri ultimate on the wii u compared to the 3DS. higher reslution. better texture work in places. but not a complete overhaul or anything.
itll probably run at 1080P at 60FPS when docked and 720P 60FPS when undocked which will be nice.
monster hunter on the switch is a no brainer though. i just hope it comes to the west quickly.

I'd accept some better textures. i do agree with you though, I think Monster Hunter on Switch is definitely a good thing. Would be nice with 60 fps if that becomes a thing
Good news for Monster Hunter fans with a Switch.
I remember trying out Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii and just couldn't get into it.
Dude! That's awesome! Just what I was hoping for! Now I just hope it's more than a touched up 3DS port.. But MH on Switch would still be fucking awesome.
I'm a bit sad for my 3DS. Haven't even touched it since I got the Switch, and I have no plans to either. Switch killed my 3DS.

I feel the same way. My Switch is now my main focus. Its bout all i want to play.
Yes! Finally, Monster Hunter is back on a home console. The last one I really got into was MH3 Ultimate on Wii U, I also own MH4 on 3DS but couldn't get into it on that. Can't wait for this, hopefully an English release is announced at E3, and with a 2017 release date, otherwise, I might actually go for the JPN version.
I definitely want to check it out. Tried playing Monster Hunter 4 on the 3ds and didn't find it comfortable to play. Mostly because I have big hands.
@sHaDyCuBe321: To be honest every time I notice a Switch thread I search for his post just for the lol of his salt.

Same. I can sort of appreciate how you're really hunting monsters and grinding items for better gear and weapons. But I just wish the overall package was more cohesive. I want a real open world, not sections that have to load. A little more clarity on items, and how to capture certain monsters. I wouldn't mind if they made it a more casual experience but I know that's heresy to hardcore fans.

If I recall correctly I think Monster Hunter 4 tries to make it a bit more accessible, but yeah it's a hard series to get into. The premise is great, but actually fighting and defeating monsters can be a grind and frustrating as well. I got a decent bit into the Wii U version of 3 and just got burnt out after a while. Doesn't help that they repeated certain monsters after a while.

It would be a bit of heresy to make it more casual. And honestly I don't think the depth or the difficulty is what makes people turn away. If anything I hope they make hunting deeper and more involved in the future. The depth in a Monhun game can totally be learned piece by piece while playing the game.
But I'm all for clarity. There are totally things in the series that are not made clear that can turn anyone away from the franchise because it throws up barriers of frustration and grinding that don't need to be there. Clear communication of important information would not ruin the game for any of the fans.
A good example is how you get lists of quests to do. And the way the game displays them it makes it seem like you have to do all the quests to progress to the next list of quests/story. But there are only a few key quests that you have to do to progress. The game never tells you which quests those are, so you'd have to look it up online. Some of those unnecessary but seemingly necessary quests can be very annoying to do early on before you get the hang of creating armor configurations for specific purposes (egg carrying quests come to mind). They are much better saved for 100 hours after you get them. At that point you will have made gear specifically for egg fetching quests that make them way easier to do/less frustrating. It wouldn't harm anyone if they made it clear in-game which quests are required to move on.
And the same goes for finding certain crafting materials for crafting armor and weapons. It's a shame that they don't allow you as a player to build or unlock an ingame easy to navigate monpedia that lists what monsters drop what materials when you deal with them in what ways. Again there are fantastic online apps that do exactly those things but I think most people who stop playing Monhun do so before they look up anything online. Some materials won't drop from monsters unless you capture them. Or unless you cut the tail. Or break the horns. I don't think that information is anywhere in the game itself and this can lead to players killing a monster the wrong way 20 times and not finding the thing they were looking for.
To anyone who dares to get into Monhun (it's pretty great) the most important advice I guess would be: Look up information/tutorials online or you'll end up frustrated.
Nice. A few days ago I was thinking about which Monster Hunter to get for the 3DS. 4 Ultimate it is now. And Generations for the Switch.
Really the switch seems kind of lame until they port the platinum games games over from the wii u to the switch and xenoblade 2 comes out.
Maybe port the games like tropical freeze as well.
This is great news for me. I really enjoy the Monster Hunter games but I prefer to play them on the big screen.

If they don't release it in the US, will the Japan version have an english dub/text?
