Havent heard a lot about this(we ignore non exclusives here it seems), but I remember the first was really amazing. What do you guys think?

I enjoyed the first one a lot. It was a pretty simple game with some cool features. I haven't read the review (or watch many videos) for the sequel.. I already bought it, knowing I'd enjoy the Nemesis system and whatever they add to it. Its a shame about the whole microtransaction thing, but it doesn't change my decision on playing the **** out of this game.
After watching the video it was just full of bs, like it was sooooooo bad, "complains about text heavy menus" shows menus that have no more text than the typical menu of ANY game.
The first one sucked. It only won awards because 2014 was the worst year in gaming history.
You aren't lying. Jeeze 2014 and 15 were atrocious. 16 was better, but 17 has been amazing by comparison
I have the first one and thought it sucked... Played a few hours and it seemed pointless. Too much focus on 4k this time also lol.
I'll probably get it, I enjoyed the first game but only got to the midpoint before being sidetracked with other games, I enjoyed it but I think I had made a few bad decisions that made the area I was in difficult to get out of. I'll have to look at other reviews, but depending on who you read, you'll get a different impression. This is IGN's summary.....who to trust more?
"Similar to the way Batman: Arkham City built on the foundation of Arkham Asylum, Middle-earth: Shadow of War is bigger and more ambitious in scope than Shadow of Mordor, with great results. The way it expands the Nemesis system with far greater variety and fortress sieges makes even better use of the stand-out generated characters, and its battles with memorable uruk captains remain challenging all the way through the campaign and into the clever asynchronous multiplayer beyond."
Monolith didn't pay their Gamespot dues like Activision Bungie did with Destiny 2.
Not really comparable. Destiny 2 doesn't require you to spend real money to progress. Shadow of War is uncharted territory for bad microtransactions in gaming.
@NathanDrakeSwag: At what point does Shadow of War require money spent on MT's to progress in the game? This seems to be a common complaint, yet at no point has it been confirmed that this is the case. Have you seen a menu at like 75% through the game that says "Please buy 5 crates to move on to the next point in the campaign". Destiny 2 also got its fair share of complaints with mods being available in engrams that can be bought with real money.
The arguments towards MT is such a broken one.

Ign gave it a 9.......they must have gotten a descent check.
IGN and GS tend to come to similar conclusions about games, so this is interesting

14 was awful, but 15 wasnt too bad

This reminds me of the Mankind Divided microtransactions delirium. Negative review after negative review on steam because of the "unethical" practices of the developer/publisher when in fact you can play the game just fine ignoring the MTs - I didn't even notice they existed until I read about it online. I don't condone microtransactions but people are often way too sensitive about them.
Hold on. Please excuse me while I grab a moment in the corner...
(Breathes in deeply)
Bwahahahahahahahahahahaha-haaaaaa!!!!!!!!! Ah-hahahahahahahahahahaha-haaaaaa!!!!!!
(Settles self)
Ah. What a release. I know the GS review didn't complain about it, but the whole loot boxes and microtransactions in a single player game is disgusting to me in every way. As I said in another thread, the mere thought of this game getting GOTY would put GS on my 2018 shitlist, which would mean thinking up some way to somehow show my displeasure. A huge pain in my backside. Thankfully, I won't have to do that now.
Hey, Monolith and Warner Bros, maybe if you had spent less time and money on those ridiculous lootboxes and more on the endgame, your game wouldn't flop so hard. Ever thought of that? No? Of course not. Bwahahahaha!
Gamespot put out one of those silly informative (but really an infomercial) video explaining how past Lord Of The Rings games sucked, biggin' up this series.
When in fact, this series completely rapes Lord Of The Rings lore and mistakes it for Conan: The Barbarian. Except whiny.
Lord Of The Rings: Online was far more in line with the books, and a great MMO to boot. With a free2play model done right, as opposed to £44.99 with gambling boxes.
----
Also I noticed the video review didn't mention them at any point anywhere, but at the very, very, very bottom of the article (which 97% of people won't read), it got a tacked on mention.
Almost like... some third party source encouraged them not to mention it.
Well it looks like another game i will be buying gets low balled by the GS review team.
Has GS reviewers ever been any good?
Looks like another review i need to read over at IGN.
As for MT, why would people spread lies by saying you can't progress without using them, geez there's some stupid people on here :(
I'm really surprise a lot of gamers here saying the first one suck?! Really?
I for one love Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, it was by far the best Lord of the Rings games I really enjoy, well made game to that and this is coming from a fan of the movies (including Hobbits) so not sure why everyone thinks the first one sucks is beyond me.
Now as for Shadow of War, my main beef right now is the fact Shadow of War is filled with DLC since WB likes to be greedy with that game and so with that, I was gonna buy the new one but WB likes to be dicks on this game, I'll just wait for GOTY edition with every freaking thing coming in one game!

Wrong on 2015
The Witcher 3 and Life is Strange were game changing in their genres. Rocket League became a hit. Bloodborne was good, Super Mario Maker is a dream. 2015 was better than 2016.

No you'll just need to shell out 150-200 dollars on expansions over the next couple years to stay current so you can keep playing the game with your friends with Destiny 2.
As for Shadow of War, 7 ain't bad, not sure why people are flipping out. Not every game has to be amazing. So it has some negatives, not a terrible thing. The menus can't be any worse than Assassin's Creed :P
But what is all this about Shelob?

LotRO played it loose with the canon, too.
The difference is that Monolith has never said it tried to remain faithful to Tolkien's lore.
I don't think any video game based on Middle Earth should stick to the lore anyway; I don't think it'll work well for good game design. It'd be like sticking to the Bible literally to make a game.
I say this as a huge admirer of Tolkien and a fan of The Hobbit and Rings. I'm a fan of the guy's talents more than actually being one of those fantasy super nerds, though. Because truthfully, every other fantasy series post-Rings has been complete and utte rshit from my point of view. Probably Harry Potter aside.
Surprising, really liked the first one but will definitely hold on buying this until i see some more reviews... also swamped with games atm so can wait easily until it's on sale or a ultimate edition comes out:)
Don't care about micro transactions to be honest, people whined a lot about in mankind divided and I didn't even knew they existed until I was halfway through the game! Was a terrible game though...
The first one sucked. It only won awards because 2014 was the worst year in gaming history.

When the game with the most GOTY is Dragon Age inquisition, a misfire, than yes, it was.

Apparently it doesn't, as its now one of those games that stands the test of time. The franchise is now the hottest one SquareEnix has right now. Oh, and the prequel is great so far too.
After this video I wasn't even thinking buying the second one.
This is already after you unlock everything. You don't get all these skills at the beginning... Lmao. This video is kind of pointless.
This is the company who used to make masterpiece like FEAR 1. and now they are making craps like assassins creed in LOTR and manage to make game even worse.
how fall the great developer are. monolith and Crytek are on same boat.

I still feel the Battle for Middle Earth RTS games are the best video games to come out of the LOTR IP, though I never played Lord of the Rings: Online

You kinda omit the fact that they also made FEAR 2
Seriously man at one point they were making some crappy COD rip off called Gotham City Imposters, I know because I played that game.
When they made Shadow of Mordor they got put back as a respectable developer.
Don't make it out as "THEY MADE BEST GAME EVAH AND NOW THEY MAKE CRAP"
Nah man, they already rose from the ashes.

Still too easy. I did the same thing at the very beginning of the game.

"I only like reviews that reaffirm my preconceived notions of a game."
Enjoyed the first one, it was mindless fun. Saw this for £23 and thought screw it, may as well. I won't be buying the DLC or getting into that loot box nonsense though.
Since the first game was GameSpot's GOTY for 2014, surprised to see they gave the sequel a mediocre score... And here I was thinking it could be a potential GOTY contender. Oh well.
May well be they gave the first overall GotY, even though Divinity Original Sin beat it on PC. Depends how much money WB throw at Gamespot.
