Microsoft's new Kinect patent will spy on you for the MPAA

"The abstract describes a camera-based system that would monitor the number of viewers in a room and check to see if the number of occupants exceeded a certain threshold set by the content provider. If there are too many warm bodies present, the device owner would be prompted to purchase a license for a greater number of viewers."

BTW, found the link to the article on cracked.com, of all sites. I'm sure there will be people with mind dysfunction that will say this is ok and corporations have more rights than people, but all the other intelligent thinkers, what do you think?

Its optional, like when you opt-in to partner marketing when you sign up for XBL or PSN. Its not like they will spy on you against your will. Come on dude.......no company is that stupid, especially to apply for a patent to do something illegal. Of course you would have to opt-in.........geez people :roll:

Just because it's opt-in doesn't mean it's not mandatory. Without opting-in you simply can't use the service.

Just a quick correction, all men are required to register for the Selective Service in the United States within 90 days of turning 18 as required by Federal Law. So not really a fair comparison.

Simple solution really, dont use the console to watch anything, use your tv and cable/satelite/bluray etc etc instead and to hell with MS.

So it's easier for me to instead just download any movie I would have normally paid for, from ... 'less ruputable' sites. Not to mention financially smarter.
