Microsoft has a history of destroying IP

Halo, Crackdown, Fable, everything from Rare, etc.

All of these started out as respectable franchises and were reduced to laughing stocks. Give Microsoft 5 years and they'll do the same thing to ES, Fallout and Doom. People will be longing for the days of Fallout 76 to come back when Microsoft runs them even deeper into the dirt.

I'd advise not to jump on Protoss' bandwagon lol. Scrambling isn't the way.

Every studio they bought recently have said that they asked Phil what kind of games he would want them to make and he said "it's up to you "

Even recently in an interview he said he doesn't want to touch them, let them continue as if they were indy

To be fair Kameo, VP, and Banjo N&B were all very good, but none of them connected with the shooter box audience. The commercial failures doomed Rare, not the game quality.

Personally, I would really have liked a Kameo 2.

Halo is still great, gaming has changed and Crackdown style of gaming is antiquated, a new Fable is under development by one of the best studios in the industry, and Rare - well let’s just say the potential is there.

This is not the end of gaming as we know it. They're still making multiplats and are likely keeping games like Fallout, Skyrim, and Doom multipat. It's new games I would assume would be exclusives.

Yeah, they do. But so do a lot of these big companies to varying degrees. They've also been more consumer-friendly than most lately. So I'm not about to scramble for ways to paint them in a bad light just because they bought many of the biggest IP in gaming today

I don't think that will weight much into who win this gen.

I'm surprised people think these games will be exclusive to xbox. You know they'll be on PC for sure and more than likely on PS5 because MS will have to make some money back somehow since these games will be free to play on gamepass. As far as the topic goes, yes, Rare were my favorite developers before MS bought them.

They'll all be on PC, hardly any, if any at all will go to PS. Some might go to Switch though.

I still find Halo, Gears, and Forza to be highly enjoyable today. Killer Instinct turned out excellently. I liked Nuts & Bolts, Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero, and Viva Piñata. Sea of Thieves was too barebones when it launched but by all accounts it seems to have gotten much better.

KI was outsourced to a 3rd party dev.

The rare games are all 15 years old now dude...they spent 5 years making Kinect shovelware and Avatar clothes. :(

@fedor: I just saw news that Phil said the 2 timed exclusives for PS5 would still remain timed exclusives and any games thereafter would be on xbox and PC, and other consoles on a case by case basis.(I think those were the words). So whatever that means.

OP said all the games by Rare, just saying that I enjoyed them. Sure Rare was just making avatar and Kinect stuff for awhile there but they’ve moved past that and now have Sea of Thieves out along with the upcoming Everwild game which I think looks pretty intriguing.

Sad truth is Rare tried a lot of things by themselves before they got put on Kinect duty.

Rare was responsible for their own fall from grace. They had a chance to make another Banjo game and they made Nuts and Bolts.

Ironic that those Kinect games were the only ones that made money and let them go on to make Sea of Thieves and the upcoming Everwild game.

Minecraft is still doing okay. But then again, that's a multi-plat available on numerous platforms. Whereas Rare was bound to Xbox and was destroyed by Microsoft meddling. Zenimax/Bethesda should do fine if Microsoft doesn't meddle in their business, and allows them to release games on rival platforms, like with Minecraft.

I heard Joe Rogan say they smuggle IPs through Wayfair and keep them locked in the basement of a DC pizza parlor responsible for unleashing 5G and the coronavirus onto the world, all in a plot to make the masses subscribe to Game Pass Ultimate. I heard on Facebook they released Flight Simulator to promote round Earth propaganda.

Bethesda turned into trash way before MS layed a hand on them. The real aquisition was Id Software.
