Microsoft Flight Simulator will take up around 100GB on your Xbox

Be interesting to see how popular this is on console. Of course, Game Pass will mitigate many sales.

Microsoft Flight Simulator will reportedly take up almost 100GB on Xbox consoles.

The news came via Twitter user Idle Sloth, who showed that if you select "Manage with Game Pass" on the the game's Xbox Store page, it'll give you the full install size: 97.2GB.

As our pals at Pure Xbox report, that's just the standard edition, too, so depending upon what flavour current-gen Xbox you're running - the X or S - and what edition you'd like to play, it may take up even more than that.

Here's hoping the console version will also benefit from a size reduction, sooner rather than later; a recent PC update has drastically cut the amount of space the game takes up on PC.

As Matt recently explained, Microsoft Flight Simulator received much praise when it launched on PC at the end of last year, in large part thanks to its utterly staggering rendition of the entire world - one that Asobo has continued to build on with regular free sim updates and visual overhauls for the likes of Japan, the United States, France, Benelux, the UK, and Ireland.

Microsoft Flight Simulator touches down on Xbox Series X/S and Game Pass for console on 27th July, giving us plenty of time to get ready for a Top Gun crossover that's coming to Xbox Series X/S and PC on 19th November this year. Tying in with Paramount Pictures' upcoming Top Gun: Maverick movie, the expansion promises to give players first-hand experience of "what it's like to be a US Navy Top Gun".

30fps, low graphics settings and now it will take up a big chunk of storage space. Man, the console version of this game is shaping up to be a dumpster fire.

30fps has generally been the norm for flight-simulators since their inception.

TBH be impressed if it consistently hits that while looking decent.

If we go by previous entry (MFSX) dlcs which cost around $8,000 for all item and somehow profit, I dont think this game will have problem selling its dlc planes.

Some Sony users still flap their arms around crying "it's a fwight simulator it dwoesn't count!", "PC's are expwensive!" and "When you zwoom in dwoesn't wook exacwly wike the earth!".

Sad.

Let me guess FM5 looks to much like an episode of Top Gear to count as well.

On the one hand they hide behind it looking awesome on the PC and on the other its bing maps looking bad.

Makes sense. When you're used to X1 graphics, showing images from Bing Maps is sure to wow ya.

So PC gamers are used to X1 graphics? or do they use different maps.

I can not wait for the reviews to come in for this and to see the usual Sony shills crying over the great reviews this will get on XSX

I mean, it's a game that uses Bing Maps with a graphic overlay that is guaranteed to run well under par on Series consoles. I don't know what you're arguing here because both of these statements are right.

Thats not what he said, his sole reference was to bing maps, no mention of graphical overlay. Anyways a game running on a 3090 is going to look way better than a console. But at whatever level it will run on series X it will still be the best looking game on console and the best way to play for under £500.

Steam Deck cannot run this game even if you buy the high storage the specs are crap on it

I will probably reinstall it soon and see if they fixed the f*cked patching system so I can enjoy it. Good game - Asobo didn't know what they were doing with content delivery and management, though. Holy hell

Flying aimlessly around maybe boring. But it's the landing challenges that look great. Trying to land a 737 on some tiny runway in the mountain looks great fun imo.

They said they tried their hardest to get this game to run on the weak azz TumorStation for future release and the best they could do was...

Oh well crash and burn but they tried. lol :P

Im pretty excited to play this game. And if it doesn’t really work out on console, I can just go use the stick on my PC. But sitting in my theater seat, flying a plane on the 85” with 5.1.2 Atmos… Thats far more appealing than playing it in the office imo.

First thing I'm going to do in Flight Simulator is take off from JFK airport in New York, fly over City Field and Yankees Stadium.... then fly over my old neighborhood, then fly to Pennsylvania where I live now, fly over my house then land at Lehigh Valley International Airport that is like 7 minutes from my home. :)

For now, I'm using the stick to play War Thunder and tonight gonna try Elite Dangerous.

I've been playing a few simulators on Xbox recently. I enjoyed lawn simulator, intrigued by big rigs, now this. But can you even call simulator a game?
