To be expected. GameSpot joining in on the graphics comparisons does not bode well for Xbox One this generation, it means even GameSpot is annoyed at an underpowered, underwhelming console.

the lighting engine is also different as well as weather simultation, there's much higher quality textures also present with some type of ambient occlusion.

It's most certainly not just resolution.

Aside from the main topic of this thread, being that the PS4 version is the best. I really wish more game devs would do this and just get the word out about resolution and fps out early and let people judge for themselves. Kojima wasted no time, it is what it is, and its good to hear that the game still looks and plays good on the One. Instead of beating around the bush and hiding shit till the last minute, he gave us this info weeks ago. Since I knew I was buying the system less powerful than the PS4, but with the features and games I wanted most, I'm not shocked by multiplat performance differences. But its good to know up front what you're getting and get it out of the way. I'm still gonna buy this game for the One now that the price went down.

Agreed, Ubisoft is a prime example of how not to handle this type of situation. Consumers have the right to know just what they are buying, granted reviewers should also inform them.

I actually know someone who thinks the Xbox One version looks worse because he thinks Kojima hates Microsoft, therefore he made the Xbox One version look significantly worse. I can't convince him otherwise :(

Honestly, the X1 is really not a gaming console. Its strong point is the TV media, which is why gaming performance is poor.

I agree. I like how CoD did it early on as well. As a One gamer, I already know whats under the hood and what to expect within reason. Games have been hitting the 900P mark more as of recent times so that may be the Xbox One sweet spot going forward, but the PS4 will regularly hit 1080p/60fps. I think half the uproar over resolution is the waiting game and how it finally comes out what resolution a game displays at. And while I personally don't give a shit, tons of other people do and should know what they are buying. If a dev says "The Xbox One version runs best at 720p upscaled and we're working hard to deliver the best version we possibly can." I respect that even if the PS4 version is higher res. Its a straightforward way of doing business that I respect. And Cod sold well on the One despite the resolution, proving that gamers are gamers more than they are graphics whores. You buy what you like the most, where you play the most, for your own reasons, and that's all that matters.

Kojima's logic is who the hell is going to buy the Xbone version anyway, so no harm in being upfront and honest about the differences unlike every publisher ever.

just from the comparison I can tell there's definitely much more going on than Resolution, Kojima even mentioned the lighting and weather upgrades.

I think he was just referring to things like spot lights and what not.

Anyways TLHBO. They are getting so owned everytime that saying "TLHBO" is starting to lose its swag on SW. Lemmings better hope Titanfall bundles help Xbone outsell PS4 in March or I'm afraid they might have to leave SW altogether.

pretty obvious the ps4 is going to win the vast majority of these this gen just like the 360 did last gen.

It's not just resolution. If it was both games would look near identical. Ps4 has higher graphical settings as well which is the real difference.

The game was just ported to XB1 from the looks of it. It's in no way using any of the new SDK features at all. I don't even think it's using XB1 upscaler either. Tomb Raider: DE looks better then Hideo's crap. I had the PS4 version pre-ordered, but I cancelled it. The game is only 2hrs long anways. What's funny is Kinect Sports Rivals looks like 3x's better then Kojima's game on XB1. Someone didn't ask M$ for help on how to program on the XB1. Oh well, maybe he'll get it right with MSG V: Phantom Pain.

The X1's Raiden vs. Snatcher mission looks a lot more interesting than the PS4's MGS1 mission... That might just be enough to make up for the X1's inferior visuals.
