It does feel a bit odd that, after all this Switch headlining stuff, we're suddenly going back to 3DS getting a spotlight. I wonder how much longer 3DS has before they retire it.

@indzman: Metroid Prime is more a First Person Adventure game. The game is quite friendly when it comes to combat mechanics. :P

And Besides, Metroid: Samus Returns is a side-scroller. ;)

Nice. I'm really looking forward to picking this game up. I'm starting to think though that the 3DS days may be numbered.

Amazing game and and the year is not over yet for the big N. But i think that Nintendo is going to show their final form next year.

@Archangel3371: Ah yeah, I think maybe it has one more year after this one it? I'm sure most Nintendo gamers are ready to move on. It's great to see that fun games are still being released for the platform.

Eurogamer didn't even give it a recommendation award. They thought it was very average!

@boycie: Looks like there were not expecting a remake from an old classic game... agree is weird...

@jumpaction: Yeah I don't think that the 3DS has much left for it. Unless I missed it there doesn't seem to be any more big games planned for it in the future.

@Archangel3371: The only three I can think of are the remakes for Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga (+ Bowser’s Minions) and Pokemon Ultra Soon/ Ultra Moon.

It reminded me of my childhood with snes.

Hopefully, this experience from Mercury Steam will have them make better games. Give them another try making a 2D Metroidvania style Castlevania again

ill be going in fresh. i never beat the original only play an hour or two. it was hard. harder than the NES metroid.

Is it just my subjective experience or is GS giving out more high review scores than they did a few years back?

All those Nintendo dollars spent on advertising here at GS seems to be paying off Bigly. lol :P

Man, Nintendo is killing it this year. They had what, one dud, been 1, 2, Switch? Everything else they've released has been incredible. I mean I think Nintendo has released more 8+ scoring games this year than Microsoft has all gen.

Nintendo is crushing 2017. I'll have to pick this up. I do wish they'd release it on the Switch so I wouldn't have to wait until I unpack my 3ds.

The og NES Metroid is just cruel. You either spend hours making your own map and checking every spot in every room for a secret tunnel, having to farm everytime you die because you only start with 30 health, and dying over and over again, or you use a strategy guide and it's easy lol.

While still difficult because you have to make your own map, Metroid 2 was way easier because they gated areas with the Metroid counter and made you find upgrades to really progress.

Nintendo needs an all new Metroid game on the Switch. Samus is HOT right now. They need to keep that fire burning.

I bet the people who hated Nintendo for taking down the remake feel dumb right now.

They did great with this game. It got a great score.

nice. eurogamer seemed a bit less keen but it seems to be an improvement overall from the original (which i didnt play) and is pretty much a retelling rather than just a port (map is different, controls are different...yadda yadda). it seems the counter thing may be relied on a bit too much which may be annoying.

but scores generally look good. this week, im pretty sure, will be the actual send off for my 3DS and vita. i dont see myself getting any more games for either. but metroid and Ys 8 on the same day....thats not a bad way to go at all.

...of course i said that with Ys celceta and a link between worlds and look what happened :S.

but yeah...this week is going to be good :).

Sounds good, found the original unplayable (too ugly and crude) so hopefully this one lets me experience it in a better form.
