Metacritic: Xbox had no highly rated exclusives in 2018

I'm sorry system warriors, console exclusives aren't exclusives. PC is a platform in the competition.

To be fair, at least Forza Horizon 4 got some solid hits in Metacritic but yeah, this isn't saying much but it's better then nothing right?

Even Phil Spencer admitted "we could do better" during VGA and really, he wasn't trying to sway his way out of it, MS really didn't deliver with Sea of Thieves & State of Decay 2 despite that game was alot better then Sea of Thieves.

Lems will still defend it.

That's weird! I just saw an article about how Forza Horizon 4 finished in the top 5 for Meta Critic scores for last year.

Maybe Cows don't consider Racing Games "Games" because they are lucky to get 2 for the whole generation and when they do they suck.

Phil Spencer has done a good job in picking up the Xbox One after Mattrick left. Really hope they blow it out of the water this E3.

At least Sony isn't so pathetic that the only good games it has are from a dying niche genre. And they're overrated out of pity because the gaming media knows that Xbox's output is sad. Forza's AI is trash. If it weren't for the UK, Forza games wouldn't even have an audience.

I played FH4. It's good, but in the end it's just a racing game. You're either on the road or off, doing challenges and races and buying crap with in-game currency. Repeat cycle. There's a reason that no one wants to give a racing game overall GotY. They're limited as hell. There's nothing else this genre can do to invigorate itself.

I didn't even touch GTS. Racing games can be solid, but they're as dull as dishwater now.

Fair enough. I have heard others say things about all the other top rated games as well. Spiderman just being a more up to date Spiderman game but similar to the the ones before, Red Dead 2 being too slow at times, God of War copying too much of other games and troll combat fatigue(But it made some guy a better father), etc we could go on.

Xbox does not have a MLB game but hard to argue there is not a market for it. Same with Racing. There are even more of Die hards for racing and Xbox is just doing it best lately. No reason to be mad.

I don't normally go out of my way for these games but really am loving the Horizon series. They are just fun and not a sim.

I like when we can talk like normal gamers.

Sorry to break it to you but MS probably made more $ off your PC then they would if you bought an Xbox. And even more by you playing games on it.

Multi-platform games are better than the exclusives on any platform.

@PCgameruk: I disagree with that, although I enjoy multiplats, God of War and Spiderman were the most fun I had all year in gaming.

Maybe I was misinterpreting you, but I thought you made it (Smugly) seem there is no reason to patronize (That means be a consumer of)MS.

Still better than the alternatives. The ps4 is littered with japanese shovelware, movie games, and lacklustre online, the Switch is a WiiU port machine with little decent 3rd party support, and PC requires heavy configuration to play basic games.

I am guessing this is aimed at me. Glad you enjoyed them some don't . Some really like Forza Horizon 4 some don't does not make it more or less a great game.

this year is going to be sparse for Sony and it happens to all consoles. Stop acting like Xbox has no games is all I am saying.

Sony has all time 4 GOTY and Xbox has 2. So hardly running away with anything.

If Microsoft is releasing their own games on PC, they clearly dont care if the games are exclusive to the console.

I dont expect that to change, even with the NextBox.

Games being on PC shouldnt exclude them for being included with Xbox.

Xbox/PC games published by MS are still lacking in both quality and quantity, but excluding them just because they are on PC is asinine.

Why is this still news-worthy? MS have moved away from full system-exclusives with PA. There will literally be minimal to zero exclusives going forward...

Going by my Dreams is Sony's Crackdown 3 thread, xbox fans believe Crackdown 3 will be a better game than Dreams and are excited to play that, so MS fans are expecting 2019 to start off better than 2018 ended.

For Phil Spencer's sake, let's hope he surprise everyone what Xbox Scarlet can deliver.

If it was aimed at you, then I would have just quoted you or mentioned you. He said multiplats were better than exclusives, I said that I preferred the exclusives this year. It has nothing to do with you.

I never said Xbox has no games, I put in the OP that Xbox didn't have any exclusives in 2018. I don't see 2019 as sparse for Sony because I'm looking forward to Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us 2, and Death Stranding (if they come out this year).

If you like your Xbox One then all the power to you, it's just that I (alongside other media outlets, as the source suggests) don't think it's a good look for Xbox consoles that they don't have a truly exclusive selling point at the moment.

I would argue their decision does carry over weight with it, at least in the transition period where people expect exclusives from Xbox consoles. It isn't breaking news, I agree with you, but it's worth mentioning seeing as this is System Wars and Metacritic's yearly review is relevant here. I am curious what they'll do with the console line because I don't think they'll just make mini-PC's, they might add some other incentives/innovation with Xbox Scarlet.

MS hasn't had exclusives for a while now so your thread is pointless, having said that I would rather play FH4 on my X than watch anything Sony has produced last year.

This has been the case for over a year going on two years yet people still act as if its news and act as if its going to change.

My thread isn't pointless, it's pointing out that Metacritic states that Xbox didn't have any highly rated exclusives in 2018. An argument can be made that it isn't surprising, but I don't see anywhere in the news saying that's a prerequisite for a thread :).

Also why are you bringing up Sony? I haven't defended them nor did I say I was a Sony fan.

This thread is equivalent to saying "Despite the success of God of War, it received no accolades for its multiplayer features."

I'm sorry Pedro, I don't see the connection. However, Xbox is similar to God of War in one way: Just like God of War has no multiplayer mode, Xbox has no high scoring exclusives in 2018.

Xbox doesn't have exclusives and hasn't for some time where as you're acting like this is a new thing, you can't bring in Metashitic stating that there hasn't been a highly rated exclusive when exclusives don't exist.

It can't have high scoring exclusives because they don't make exclusives since 2017. Thus the reason this thread is dumb. You don't point out the obvious as a new discovery hence the reason I used God of War lack of multiplayer as an example. If someone made a thread stating "God of War received no awards for multiplayer in 2018", that thread would be a dumb thread much like this.

I'm a fan insofar as they make the games I like from their first party studios. I also have a level of trust with Sony because they've done a good job so far since PS1 days. I'm not a fanboy or Sony apologist though, if they do something wrong I'll call them out on it. Me pointing out something Microsoft is doing has nothing to do with Sony.

Well some people argue that Forza Horizon 4 or Crackdown are exclusives despite also launching on PC. I do agree with you though, I don't know why you think I'm pointing this out as a new discovery. This entire time I've openly admitted it's unsurprising but relevant to System Wars.
