But all jokes aside, Switch is just killing it! Totally amazing how far Nintendo has come with the Switch and nothing like Wii U. I expected better sales for My Hero One’s Justice due to the series popularity in Japan. Switch did the most and PS4 did even worse but those are bad sales overall for a almost 5 year old console. Conan for PS4 rocking that top spot, unexpected.

PS4 is about to be 5 years old. Low sells was bound to happen at some point. No point in anyone expecting a miracle turning point for PS4 when PS5 is just right around the corner too.

No, Japan won't care for the PS5 if it's just a traditional console.

Now that's a good question. The only way I can see PS5 taking off if Sony just relying on making AAA exclusive if they are sticking to traditional home console and most of all, include BC. It's going to be interesting what Sony has plans for PS5 and they really need to surprise us what we have never seen before on a console if they want to win back Japan's home console.

I just came late to the world of Vita, only 2 games I have for is Soul Sacrifice & Muramasa Rebirth. I would've jump on Vita day one if Sony didn't go all crazy jacking up the memory sticks prices.

I just don't see Sony copying Nintendo's idea. Look at PS Move and we know how that turn out. Sony might as well come up with something we haven't seen yet on a console.

Muramasa: The Demon Blade/Rebirth is one of the best games ever made imo. I'd hop on the Vita train if I had the money to. Like you said though, the memory card prices are disheartening.

Difference is that Move was an Accessory that didn't came with the console from the start like the Wii-Mote was. PS4 had Japan's favorites like Final Fantasy, Moster Hunter, and Dragon Quest, yet still cannot help PS4 go above 10 million. They could find a way to shrink the power of the PS4 (Or match Phat Xbox One specs) to a tiny screen which can help them.

The Switch is killing it over there. Going to be interesting to see if this affects the PS5 in any way.

Last 2 weeks Switch has sold ~25,000 units more then PS4.

Currently PS4 has 2,118,161 more units sold to date, so doing basic maths it would take Switch 85 weeks (20 months) to surpass PS4's life time sales in Japan if they both maintain the current sales numbers.

That would land us in April 2020 at which point PS5 will be on the Horizon and no one in Japan will give a shit about Switch or PS4 and they'll be in full on Next Generation mode.

So keep dreaming Sheep as PS4 will still be on top of Switch for nigh on the next 2 years.

7 Million in 5 years is NOT impressive, the 3DS made more in 5 years, the PS2 made more in 5 years. Those are terrible numbers for a Country that has been celebrated for gaming.
