Switch sold a lot less than expected though. It won't even come close to matching 3DS's first year now. They dropped the ball hard. And PS4... Yikes.

Switch now has three million sellers just ten months on the market.

Pokken has now sold more on Switch LTD than it did on Wii U.

Switch on track to pass Wii U LTD by the end of the calendar year.

Switch can claim eight (!) evergreen titles - Odyssey, Splatoon, MK8, BOTW, Arms, Pokken, 1-2, and DBX2.

PS4 on track to be up year to year, with big software releases slated for Q1 to keep momentum going.

Unfortunately no. Week 52 is always a very slow week. Even Switch demand dropped heavily this week. Week 1 is bigger than Week 52 though, so it'll pass Wii U in the first week of January. This week will be under 100k most likely.

There is no meaningful data to support these claims. Just anecdotes that some units didn't sell by the end of the day on the day after Christmas. There are also anecdotes that Bic Camera was taking orders that can't be fulfilled until Dec. 30. Using anecdotes to draw conclusions is the same mistake that led to some outlandish predictions of Switch selling 400k during Week 50. Sales are traditionally less in Week 52 than in Week 51 and Week 1, but not by such an order of magnitude that would reduce Switch from 269k to under 100k. That will only happen if Nintendo runs out of supply, not by a sudden drop in demand.

I didn't mean to say heavily, sorry. And look at past week 52s. You should expect sales no higher than half of week 51 and Nintendo will ship accordingly. If I had to guess, I'd say that this week will be no more than 150k, but it's better to expect around 100k. Next week will probably be close to last week however, and Switch should go back to selling out quickly in January.

That software list, Nintendo almost had the entire top 10. 3ds/2ds combined sales beats Ps4, Nintendo is sitting in a very very good position this time around.

Sony should have a great first quarter 2018 with Monster Hunter World. I wouldn’t be surprised to see that become their biggest game to date in Japan.

oh yea, i forgot about monster hunter. there is already 5million PS4's in japan. and the highest selling MH game is MH freedom unite on PSP with like 6million sales.

do all the people that care about monster hunter already own a ps4? i'd say the majority do.

i think there will be a spike in ps4's of course. it will be interesting to see how high. but i expect after like 3 weeks it will be gone.

i am also interested to see how the game sells. on 3Ds MH games sold like 4 or 5 million each. maybe now the west will actually accept MH and it sells like call of duty? that's what capcom is shooting for.

Pretty much, MH3g outsold MH3 on the Wii. Japan prefers MH on handhelds.

The last week of the year tends to be a lot slower than the second to last. The first week of the year is high though, so that should be over 200k.

No numbers today due to a holiday. However, the Switch shortages are starting to end in Japan, so it looks like Switch wasn't able to match 3DS's first-year demand in Japan.

Considering the fact that you're green, should you really be talking about flops here? Either way, while it fell short it's still not by much, and we're till talking about hardware that costs nearly twice as much with games that cost 50-100% more as well. With enough stock and even a slight price cut, it'll flying again. It's still constrained though (it's taking a lot longer to sell out, but it still sells out)m so it doesn't make sense to cut the price yet.
