Xbox Has "So Many Games" It's Having Trouble Scheduling Releases, Says Matt Booty

https://www.dualshockers.com/xbox-has-so-many-games-its-having-trouble-scheduling-releases-says-matt-booty/

Xbox is apparently having trouble deciding what games to release when since it has too many games in development and ready to ship within the next year.

The recent Xbox showcase was a massive hit among fans, as not only they did get some interesting insights into the already announced games, but there were some really surprising announcements as well. Quite notable of all was Xbox’s collaboration with Hideo Kojima, which is something absolutely nobody would have expected.

The last showcase of the event was Starfield, and Xbox did in fact save the best for the last. The game seems to have lived up to all the hype, and while it draws inspiration from a number of titles, it seems to have eliminated most of their problems and portrays a unique take. With over a thousand planets to explore, fans would indeed be having tons of content to keep them engaged while playing the game.

The Dualshockers team was able to witness the event live, and Matt Booty made quite an interesting comment during the event. He added that Xbox has a plethora of games in-store, which is making it quite difficult for them to plan releases and they are having some trouble due to that. He further adds that all their teams have been working extremely hard, and appreciate the support from fans all across the globe. Considering the number of games that was shown in the showcase itself, the next year does indeed look quite packed for Xbox, and could be very exciting for Xbox fans.

Fans were quite disappointed after Redfall and Starfield were delayed, but after today’s showcase it can be said for sure that the delay was worth it. We are already halfway through the year, and the exciting lineup of titles Xbox has in store should start dropping very soon. Until then, Xbox seems to be having too good of a problem.

I guess that is a good problem to have, so long as it doesn't impact the developers and their games miss out on some spotlight on the store front.

What say you fellow SW friends? Are you going to be able to fit all the Xbox games in your schedule?

They have too many games but not ready until 2024. That's the issue.

36 coming in just the next 12 months, not including 3rd party multiplatform releases.

True. Kinda like Sony's last 9 months of 2022 and first 12 months of 2023.

Not an issue when there is plenty to play 2022-2023 and the games launching later should be getting extra polish.

Xbox has more games than ever.

But PC has even more.

Both are wins for Microsoft.

They haven't had much in the AAA department these last few years, they can dump those little diabetic games on the system any time they want.

That may very well be true for 2023 and beyond but not the best comment to make right after the two big 2022 titles have been delayed..

Because you listen to any old bullshit Microsoft tells you. Even this "article" sounds like an MS press release. Xbox has WAY less games than Steam, but you don't hear Gaben talking about Steam having too many games. Booty, like his namesake is full of shit.

Xbox has been slacking on the AAAs and you know it. That's why all of you have been pushing that sad indie barn known as Game Pass, which apparently isn't doing as well as they like seeing that we haven't got new numbers

True, it's looking worse than that for Sony.

I "hear" everything that Sony and MS share, but I don't "listen" to it. But because this is System Wars, I "regurgitate" it because I am at work, it's a slow day, and I know I would get "bites" on my thread from people like you :)

Xbox has been slacking on AAA games, which is why my PS5 has been working overtime up through Horizon Forbidden West. Once I finished that, I have been able to start working on my PS5 backlog, such as Ghost of Tsushima right now.

I bought Tiny Tina's Wonderland on my XSX recently because that console sat their dormant since I finished Forza Horizon 5 campaign.

I don't like Game Pass or PS Now, so there will be no pushing by me. You seem to be all caught up in your plastic wars to see the facts I am afraid.

But mission accomplished, and thanks for participating!

This thread baited Sony fannies so easily 🤣.

Anyway, it is expected since games were delayed. An inevitable pile up would occur.

@x_hedon: I think the delay really hurt them because, like he said, their game schedule is overpacked. Some games will get left on the shelf (so to speak) because of bigger releases happening at the same time.

Gamers only have so many hours a day to play games.

In SW, no AAA games means no games. I don’t even like most AAA games, and I get what you’re saying. But Matt‘s comment was pretty tone deaf to anyone not stanning for Xbox.

I don't care where we are at. Games are games. Redefining stuff to sound stupid is common on here but that doesn't make it any less stupid or wrong.

Cool, 2023 and beyond will have too many games. I'm still annoyed that there's little to be hyped about this year. They're not even including the Forza Horizon 5 and Elder Scrolls Online expansions on gamepass. What up with that?

I want what he's smoking. They started to acquire studios in what, 2018 and so far their output is pretty much the same. No new game came out of those studios compared to what they were already working on which are mostly multiplats. Halo was delayed a year and to date is still unfinished.

Right now, xbox fans are drowning in games, all because of gamepass. MS is even adding dlc to older stuff and making it fresh, like the halo pelican or top gun for msfs20, and hotwheels dlc for fh5. Meanwhile the cows got milked extra hard with gt7, horizon forgotten worst, and now they're waiting for gow ragnarok. The best part is, tlou remaster of a remaster of a remaster, selling for $70.

I can see why it would be difficult.

They have to be careful not to overshadow other launches on GamePass and, then they also have to compete against new releases on Xbox, PlayStation etc.

Ex. Releasing anything around BotW2 is probably a mistake.

Oh, it's so awful playing all these AAA games for the year. 🤣 You're drowning in so many games you're always on this board trying to convince us you're satisfied. You can't trick us. You're not even gonna play a quarter of the shit that ends up on GP 🤣🤣🤣

More delusional than an average lemming on SW. Imagine that.
