Ok.. we know for a FACT that both consoles have SSD's and will load exponentially faster so just on that one thing alone I could list a bunch of things that just aren't possible on current consoles. However, the XSX will NOT be able to fully utilize (if much at all) this ability due to having to work hand in hand dating back to the Xbox One... it just doesn't make any sense.
Why release such a powerful and fast console just to be restricted by the limitations of previous hardware?
These things are things we know current gen consoles can't do that next gen consoles can.
1. Games will load much faster meaning there is less downtime.

https://www.vgr.com/ps5-xbox-scarlett-feature-lightning-fast-load-times/
2. Open worlds with near seamless loading will take said games to new dimensions without waiting at loading screens while in game.

https://gamerant.com/ps5-next-xbox-load-times/
3. More on screen objects at once with more processing power, which isn't available on consoles with less power. Meaning? The amount of on-screen objects will have to accommodate BOTH generations of consoles. This was a major selling point of THIS generation of consoles as compared to last generation. Now with at least another doubling in power do you not think that this will negatively affect how far they can push next gen consoles?
4. More realistic lighting and ray tracing which also improves sound and sound effects. This not only helps to see where your enemies are, but also gives one a major advantage in sound location.
5. New controllers are more responsive and allow for trigger tension with haptic feedback.
6. Faster charging with USB-C.
7. Less slow down with faster cores. This allows the person on the stronger console a major advantage in areas that are heavily congested.
8. 3D audio. Standard built in audio that is a huge advantage over those without it.
9. Backwards Compatibility. Hopefully it really is native this time around... we don't know for sure how either are going about this yet, but it is confirmed for both.
10. Higher frame rates. Not much needs to be said here.
11. Longer draw distance that loads much faster. If I can see you and you can't see me (or the other way around)... that's a problem.
12. More efficient usage of storage space.
13. More efficient menus with less lag and input lag.
Do any of these work for you? I could keep going if you wish.
These all translate to a much better experience on next gen consoles compared to this gen, ESPECIALLY when pit against each other. Those on the Xbox One, S, and X will be at a major disadvantage over those on the XSX. UNLESS and ONLY UNLESS they MAJORLY gimp the new console as to NOT give them an unfair advantage. Either way, one side or the other is getting majorly screwed in this deal...
My guess would be that it majorly limits all of the things the XSX can do in order to cater for a similar and fair fighting environment for both to have a good experience and due to the fact that even at lower resolutions the older consoles just couldn't handle everything going on at once. Gimping the XSX to cater to this generations consoles makes no sense at all. Like I said before, why make the fastest most powerful console when it's going to be 2-3 years before anyone will even see it?
Like I have said several times already though, the BIGGEST thing is the loading times.. I could have put 100 different reasons just in that alone. Why gimp the XSX players to cater to an audience that isn't willing or ready to upgrade to your new console and limit what those can see and do on your new console because of your last gen player base?
Now, remember your response was with regards to this
"Well please share what gameplay things can only be done on next gen."
Faster load times is NOT going to change gameplay. It simply reduces the time it takes to, well load assets. Making a world seamless can occur right now with proper asset scheduling. However, its a complicated mechanism and has been a low priority for developers despite the technology exist right now.
So, 1 and 2 has no relevance to actual gameplay just improved gamers experience.
3 and 4 does not affect gameplay.
The new controllers are BC making 5 another null point.
6-13 are not gameplay related features. You are just listing advantage of a new console which would remain beneficial to gamers regardless of games being playable on older systems.
Its clear that you are ranting but not even understanding what you are ranting about. You list all of the advantages of next gen and non of the reasons offers unique gameplay experiences. All of the advantages will and can be enjoyed independent of games being compatible with existing systems. Why write so much and say nothing of substance?
Yes faster load times will DRASTICALLY change gameplay. That is what a lot of you don't seem to understand. 1 and 2 have more relevance then you know.
reducing or eliminating online loading allows for games to become much larger in scope, allow more on screen, more players at once, less lag, longer draw distance, less slow down, and on and on.. These are all HUGE differences in gameplay. It's not as if the older consoles will suddenly be able to handle more.. they will just play these games worse.. simple as that.
Think of a game like Atlas on Xbox One. You don't think the PC players that are playing the game are at a huge advantage over the Xbox players? They have higher frame rates, less freezing, less lag, a more stable game over all and MUCH more can be displayed on screen at one time without things starting to bind up or even crash. How is that any different than the advantage those will have on the XSX over the Xbox One while playing the same game? You can't use it for one example but then throw it away on the next..
3 and 4 without a doubt DO effect gameplay. Being able to see your enemies and hear exactly where they are is very important to gameplay ESPECIALLY at a competitive level. More on screen at once also effects gameplay since it allows more to be going on at one time without hindering framerates or creating slowdown which gives devs a lot more freedom to express their true intentions with games.
You think that when there are console tournaments for up and coming online games that there will be a mix of Xbox Ones and Xbox Series X? No... They will all be on the one that gives them the best chance to stay competitive.. because of equal gameplay.
The new controllers that are higher quality, less input lag, and have haptic feedback will all effect gameplay as well.. maybe not as much as the others so far, but it still makes a difference.
As far as BC effecting gameplay... well this does as well too, because the new console will upres the games and possibly help stabilize or improve framerates.
7,8,10,11, and 13 all definitely do effect gameplay... give me a freaking break. Not to mention the ones in between those numbers were mentioned above... lol give me a break man. You are grasping at straws here.
Saying none of these things effect gameplay in the least is an absolute joke.
See, I am looking at things objectively and as someone who games on all platforms and consoles, and not that of a jaded fanboy.
It's clear that no matter what anyone says you will say they are wrong without keeping an open mind and reading and actually thinking about what they had to say.
These advantages of next gen consoles directly DO effect gameplay experiences.
Why ask for differences in gameplay and when someone lists them you just try to shove them all to the side like they don't matter, or try to find reasons why they are irrelevant? They are all very relevant to me, and very much so effect gameplay for me.
If you think higher framerates, dramatic reduction of slow down, much larger draw distances, improved lighting and sound (including directional sound from 3D), games being played at a higher fidelity, new improved controllers with less input lag, pop in/out practically eliminated, and the ability to load areas faster than that of your opponent are not advantages in gameplay above that of last gen consoles I don't even know what to say...
You are starting to remind me of that part in the movie Anger Management when he asks Adam Sandler who he is.... here you know what, I'll just add it to my post.. anyways this is you. (you being jack nicholson)
Anyways, I gave you a list of things that most certainly do directly effect gameplay in every possible way, and I could easily add a few more.
The thing is.. it doesn't matter what I say or post, you will say they aren't relevant and do not pertain to gameplay... although that's exactly what all these things relate to..
If I have all of these things and you don't who would you say is at an advantage as far as gameplay goes? Just saying we can both play the same game is completely irrelevant if one person or the other has 100 things that puts them at a large advantage. Now that doesn't always mean the person with the advantage will win (obviously because of differences in skill), but it sure as hell doesn't hurt their chances any.
It can't be BOTH ways... either one side (the XSX side) will have a BUNCH of advantages, or a lot of sacrifices will be made (to the XSX side) to make sure there is parity between gameplay. It's one or the other... You can't have it both ways.
It isn't always about what things can only be done gameplay wise next gen (and besides that makes no sense.. a game will still be the same game) it's about how much better you can do those things, and how much easier it will be. If I can see you at 100 feet away but you can only see me at 30 feet away, If I can hear you and know you are above me and slightly to my right as opposed to hearing you but having no idea where you are... etc. etc. the list goes on and on. All major improvements in gameplay that put the person on the lesser hardware and technology at a major disadvantage unless they purposely gimp the new consoles to make things fair for those who haven't upgraded yet.
I didn't know how big of a disadvantage I had playing on the regular PS4 and Xbox One until I upgraded, and let me tell you.. BOTH made a huge difference online that I would most certainly call an unfair advantage against those on the previous consoles.
However.. this time around it won't just be a one console leap.. it will be the difference between the original Xbox One to the Xbox S to the Xbox One X to the Lesser new Xbox which we will call the Series S to the Xbox Series X. Someone playing on the original Xbox One to someone playing at the XSX will be at a world of disadvantage. That is not something I like seeing on consoles... leave that shit on PC where it belongs.
I guess you could say that none of those things matter, but to someone like me they matter a lot as far as gameplay is concerned. I like playing competitive online games, and anyone who wants to be at the top will be on the strongest console to give themselves the best chance.
Unique gameplay experiences.. lol.. what a cop out. I can get gameplay experiences on my Atari or NES and claim the same thing. The things that set consoles apart these days are what they can do... unique gameplay experiences are brought to you by the devs that create the games.
