Masterpiece Resident Evil 2 rumored to save E3

While we know that a Resident Evil 2 Remake is currently in development, we don’t know too much else about it. Other than tiny tidbits of information and the fact that it would be out “soon,” not too much else has been spilled regarding the upcoming title. That might change in a few weeks, however, as it seems as if the game might be showcased at E3 2018.

According to website RelyonHorror (via COGConnected), sources close to the project have stated that the Resident Evil 2 Remake will likely be showcased at the upcoming gaming convention. Of course, it’s important to take this news with a grain of salt, as tons of false information is released during the lead up to E3. Still, the source has stated that the remake will run on a significantly optimized engine that will feature a revamped lighting and shadow system.

In what could be a surprising development, the source also revealed that the game’s camera would be an over the shoulder style similar to Resident Evil 4 but more “stylized” in its execution. The game is also rumored to include campaigns for both Leon and Claire, with the game being much longer than the original as its packed with new content and areas, according to the source. Finally, the game is said to be aiming for 30fps at 1080p while also aiming to hit 60fps and native 4K on a PlayStation 4 Pro. Of course, that’s kind of hard to believe in general, so we’ll see if any of these rumors end up holding any weight.

The good news is that E3 2018 isn’t too far off, so we won’t have to wait too long to see if this ends up being true. We do know that Capcom is slated to have a semi-large presence at the upcoming show, so it’s likely they’ll be bringing some things for fans to get excited about. I hope it shows up and that it's actually any good. I wouldn't hold my breath for it actually being released tho, as it's already 3 years from the announcement and we heard NOTHING about it ever since.

RE7 is better.

I hope RE2 remake is in first person.

Metro Exodus already save E3. Doom 2 will further save it if it will announced.

Best resident evil game and maybe best horror game ever imo.

I would love to see how Resident Evil 2 remake is progressing. RE 2 is my all time favourite RE game. Personally I just want them keep it simple and just keep the game basically the same but with fancy new graphics, much like Resident Evil remake.

I hope RE2 remake shows Capcom that we want a cheesy RE again, not an overly serious game like we got with 7

RE2 wasn't that cheesy. The first one was, primarily due to terrible voice work and poor writing, but 2 was an improvement in pretty much every conceivable manner. I'd say it's tonally quite similar to 7.

It's really 4 that took it back to cheese territory, deliberately rather than unintentionally.

I'm not sure modern day Capcom can pull it off. Time will tell.

RE2 might just be my favourite RE game, but RE3 was pretty close. I need to see this shit at E3.

All they did with the REmaster was stretch a 4:3 image to 16:9 and run the 2D backdrops through some PhotoShop filters. Fun game anyways but I hardly think they're going to do any serious remaster work here.

Remake I might bite, will wait and see....no interest in a remaster however. I've learned this gen that some old shcool games are best left locked in my memories of the past, and I believe this game would be one of those. I just do not think I would enjoy it as much today, not to mention that I've played it numerous times before.

Virgil's Voice Actor teased DMC 5 for E3.

Not fussed as long as it feels like the original . The original is still very much playable, and visually, holds up decently.

I'll be extremely pissed off if they replace the god tier OST.
