I'm probably one of the only people on this website that has actually played and beat Mario + Rabbids, and it really is no contest if we're talking about what game is more "fun" to play.

Baby's first XCOM with annoying lobotomised Max the Rabbit clones versus mutant baby of Uncharted and David Cage does zombie apocalypse.

I suppose the first one is good for a laugh. Mostly at its expense, though.

@sargentd: Yep, Mario + Rabbids was your definition of a game that wanted to be "fun."

The Last of Us 2 is the definition of a traumatizing experience.

Sometimes the more pedestrian stuff really is the most fun. It's pick up and play and designed for greater appeal. High brow stuff is often more niche. Many times I'd go hang out with a friend who we use to bond over our film appreciation but he'd sometimes whip out some Criterion Collection this or that and ugh that stuff was soooo boring, sometimes I really just need a 90-minute 23% on RottenTomato Adam Sandler fart humor movie, not some 4-hour "classic" in black and white and subtitles that I fight to stay awake during like someone who suffered a concussion. That being said, is TLOU2 that bad? It's no Kojima game.

Not even close.

TLOU2 actual GAMEPLAY demolishes Xcom: Kindergarten Edition.

I know people love to meme on TLOU2, its a popular thing to do, but shitting on its gameplay? You gotta be high. Its easily the best gameplay from ND and is in the top of any third person shooter. People who haven't played it will never understand how juicy it feels. Too bad its not 60fps, tho.

@hardwenzen: Exactly. Say what you want about muscle girl and whatnot, but TLoU2 has some of the best 3rd person action gameplay of any game--ever.

I'll almost always take Nintendo offerings over Sony, but TLOU2 is no slouch on the gameplay. If the intention was to dunk on Sony here, could've picked any other game lol.

THE best implemention of the prone mechanic of any third person game as well.

Seems like an unfair comparison. I'm not even sure The Last of Us Part 2 was even designed to be fun.

Very weird comparison. It's like Mr Bean getting compared to Game of Thrones. Both great but just weird

@mojito1988: It obviously was, hence the great gameplay and different mechanics. What they meant by "not fun" is that, depending on the kind of person that you are, you might not enjoy witnessing some of the events that transpire in the game, or killing people in such a brutal manner.

Ahh the good ol' "I'M A MAN I ONLY PLAY MAN STUFF NOT CHILDREN'S GAMES" insecurity has resurfaced.

But because you play "manly" games, does that default make a game fun???

The majority of you haven't even touched Mario + Rabbids in the first place, because you all think it's dipped in acid and would burn through your skin if it touched you.

Bunch of manly scaredy cats in here.

Rabbits are a bit too gay for me, so I'll go with the Last of Us, where every character is straight.

Also I head it'll be the last Last of us game so it's always good to end on a high note.

For such a homophobic post like this, I see sweet irony in the fact TLoU2 actually has gay romance in it.

Sorry I just don't feel that all games are just about being fun or even necessarily having fun as the main point. Visceral vs Cerebral for example, or straight up action, vs a building game.

It is not even intended to insult the last of Us Part II, I just feel that the game was more about the Cautionary tale with a strong moral in the end that people can relate to in their own lives in ways that might actually prove helpful depending on how you think about it. For me it lives in this philosophical grey area that is compelling due to the questions it asks of players that are willing to listen to it's messages.

I simply don't call that "Fun."

I legit feel that fun was not at the forefront of the design or implementation of The Last of Us Part II. Doesn't need to be.

I'd rather play Mario tbh. I play games to relax, and have fun, not listen to whiny drama for a few hours.

I simply meant that the Rabbits are always really happy, so gay is just a synonym. In TLOU there isn't much gayness, because there is nothing to be gay about, if you understand?

@R4gn4r0k: I highly doubt that's what you meant. We're not living the Flinstones era anymore.

This thread is not about the first TLoU game.

The fact TLoU2 is your omission in this thread means you must have avoided it for a particular reason, I wonder why. πŸ€”

Well TLOU2 isn't fun, the gameplay is boring and easily exploitable, the narrative is also miserable. so I guess Rabbids wins.

Yeah you are on to me: it was sarcasm just like my original post was... I mean how can made up hyped up animals be more gay than made up gay humans?

And yeah, I was talking about TLOU part dos. Sorry for not making that more clear ;)

I honestly don't get the argument that TLoU2 isn't fun. I mean, have you guys actually played the game? The gameplay is just insanely good. I don't think I've ever played a 3rd person action game that feels as punchy and bone-crushingly gnarly as this game. Even just shooting at nothing has a satisfying weight to it.

Oh yeah it's risky for sure. But I wanted to poke fun I guess.

I played the game being totally OBLIVIOUS to the shitstorm that was going on over on the internet and thorougly enjoyed it.

Did I like every part? No, but I don't feel we should demand perfection all the time from everyone and everything.

@mojito1988: Yeah, I get what you mean. Still, even though the game is centered around its narrative and a paricular message that might shake or resonate with people, playing it is very enjoyable IMO.

Didn't play the Mario game but as good as TLOU2 is, it is NOT fun to play. The world they've built is depressing as hell and you will hate everything in it. That's the intent of course and it worked.

Haven’t played either but am interested in both. Would have to say though that I would most likely have more fun playing Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. I see it on sale on the eShop quite regularly too. Really should grab it one of these days.

I mean, do you need a bright and chipper world to have fun, regardless of how good the gameplay is?
