Mafia 2 had a good story and good characters. Everything else was crap. They could've made a 45m short film, post it on youtube and it wouldn't have felt like you've missed any gameplay.

and Mafia 1 was one of the best game ever. series has not been strong since original.

A Mafia 1 remake would be a dream come true for me but its probably just a Mafia 2 remaster.

Hopefully they take it back to its roots of the first game. The series never hit that same high point as the first game hit.

because it went full arcade fasting car and cover shooting/meele rather than simulation like driving and realistic gunplay

because it went full open world rather than divided into chapters

and because instead of italian Mafias wearing Hat and suit that define the series. we have diversity in cast.

What has this got to do with anything? It's Mafia aka mobsters. As long as you're playing mobsters it's Mafia. Can be Irish, Chinese, Mexican, Haitian, Jewish. Doesn't matter.

A new Mafia game would be cool, but I actually agree with you that it needs to be more like the first two.

I totally agree man, I don't know why people like all these remakes and remasters. I already played those games. Give me a new game anytime.
