M$ : We think FFXIII will sell better on 360 in NA only.

This latest news coming from our very own GAMESPOT! :) (Keep in Mind that this is a M$ employee essentially making claims about his system, but it's news)

M$ representative :

"We're happy with the performance of Street Fighter IV on Xbox 360," the M$ representative said. "It follows in the steps of franchises like Grand Theft Auto and Madden NFL which have historically been associated with PlayStation, that are now selling better on our platform."

The M$ representative added that Microsoft expects entries in other formerly Sony-exclusive series like Resident Evil 5 and Final Fantasy XIII to also sell better on the Xbox 360 than the PS3 (In North America only)

Sure, the M$ rep didn't talk about DMC4 sales on PS3, et cetera, this is PR guys, so know how to intrepret it.

Also, notice that the M$ rep didn't mention WORLDWIDE sales of RE5 or SF4...this is about North America.

FFXIII worldwide will obviously be better sales on PS3, the install base and the fact Japan sales of RPG's are pretty good.

You're a little late, actually, when I clicked on this thread it was underneath the other one but anyway big words MS. They should probably keep there mouths shut so they don't look bad if it doesn't happen. For the sake of Sony's dignity, I want FF 13 to sell more on the PS3 in NA.

I'll say what I said in the other thread, I expect sales to be split down the middle just like Street Fighter 4, with a light edge in the 360's favor.

Worldwide is a WHOLE other issue, this is just about North America, but yeah, this is just a rep bragging about a 3rd party game, I guess.

I'd say it'll probably be pretty even.

But I'm basing this almost entirely on my observation that all the big RPG fans who got their consoles fairly in the game bet on the PS3 as being the home of RPGs. But there are more people out there with 360s, so I don't imagine the numbers being too far apart.

It's a FUN game that EVERYONE gets to play!

Enjoy the game!..FFXIII should certainly help boost your small gamerscore 21,162 (ouch, for being a 360 ony guy, that's score should be huge), but still, that means extra enjoyment for you!

My policy is to buy what the game was designed for, that way I get the best results, but you can do what you want, it's fine, at least FF fans can play this on Two platforms instead of ONE.

It's a shame the 360 port is delaying the game for PS3 owners in NA though, but hey, that's the deal.

Perception is reality to the common guy, so if the perception is that games sell better on 360, then it brings in more games for 360. This is about controlling the consumers perception and expectations.

sony has 260 million in profit from the gaming division a month, they should buy back GTA, that would REALLY bite into the 360.

i think it will sell better than ps3 worldwide (not only in na) because street fighter 4 and resident evil 5 until now sold more on 360 worldwide.unlike the usa, japan sale numbers are very small and will not affect the world market alot.but ff 13 is an offline game so say for instant it sold 5 mil in xbox and 1 copy for playstation it will not affect the game at all since there is no online in it.so both ps3 and 360 gamer will enjoy the game basically.

It's in the contract deal that SE made with M$ (We don't know yet how much was disclosed, but it wasn't enough to make the game an exclusive), so that's that. It's important for M$ image that in there HQ (U.S.A.), the 360 is percieved to get everything under the sun.

Perception is reality, look to previous gens for examples of that.
