Over 3 million in sales for the first season as well.

They have said in the past that any sequel season will not feature Max and Chloe, so this should be a whole new story with common themes to the first. Its a wise decision as great as those two characters were.

The new king of episodic adventure gaming is here, lets see how they take this and learn from the first.

They said it will be with different characters and story. With this IP, they can do anything.

They just need to not squander the success of the first game by recycling formula like Telltale has done. TWD S3 flopped.

It better have more Yuri this time around. Also needs to end with the option to choose best girl over the lives of hundreds. I liked the first Life is Strange when I got it for free on PSN & will buy the new one on release day.

With Polygon, it actually was more mixed at review and only no. 7 of their top 10 games of the year.

And really, gamers acclaimed the game far more than the critics did. It had a mid 80's on Metacritic but has an overwhelmingly positive rating on Steam.

You mean last time had the first ever Peabody recognized video game writer and the near universal acclaim of the acting for the two leads?

You don't like the game, get over it.

And that is the problem. And you can't just repeat what made the first season work so well, they have to excel at doing something different. That's the challenge.

LiS season 1 was ok. The story had some elements in it that kind of pulled me out of the experience. (Max's HS was actually a college, why did they insist on calling it a HS?) Also I just read that the developers didn't have any details on the game at all, other than it is in LiS' universe. So calling it LiS season 2 is a bit misleading.

Still part of their program, and covers an area the main awards do not. They are still honored on award night. It still counts, the writer of LIS paneled with the Peabody president and a lead for FRONTLINE at SXSW.

And its worth more than gaming journalists who award explosions and style over substance for narrative awards, like Uncharted 4 over That Dragon Cancer, which is this years winner.

So they only award games without any gameplay? Why should anyone take them seriously again? If I want to watch a shitty highschool drama with bad acting I can just watch Shes All That.

Also, I give no fvcks about what gaming "journalists" have to say, that's always been your thing. Not even sure why you'd bring it up lol.

The same jabroni journalists you love using a reference when apologizing for The witcher 3 or mass effect or whatever? It's still a glorified opinion mate, a fallacy if used as some measure of quality. And That Dragon, Cancer isn't even particularly well written, let's cut some bs on that one. I appreciate the game's existence, but it skates by on the fact that no one wants to be mean to the game about two parents losing their child to cancer.

If actually judged as a game, it fails to actually use interactivity and a game in any meaningful way to tell its story sans one scene.

Will this one not have a shitty ending/final episode that sours the experience? Because that would be great!

Because its not about gameplay, its about narrative with the Peabodys. Its not a GOTY award, its a narrative of the year award. Gameplay doesn't matter. Its the top story award for the medium now, like the Annies are for animation, which Uncharted 4 won for games.

Yah really hate that ending? Like I hate the save Chloe ending, because it fundamentally misses the whole point of the entire story it wants Max to learn to let shit go and accept things to take their course and move on. But the other ending I think it works, I think the characters are built enough that you buy into Max's pain on that one.

Honestly the ending in itself is fine. The one where so and so gets the axe anyway, because the story feels like it reaches full circle and Max's arc ends up becoming much more fulfilling. I just don't like how it goes way off the rails to reach that ending. The final episode is filled with a bunch of ideas to mess with the player's head, and while at first it's effective, the excess makes it annoying rather quick. It really just felt like blatant filler to try and justify what the price was for a single episode.

Its not a college, its a private high school for art students. The only problem is that Max calls it a senior school when there are clearly juniors there, other than that, its a high school. Max is just turned 18 and started at 17.

However, that ending was also about taking responsibility for actions and accept consequences of them. Both endings work. The save Chloe ending is Max accepting the consequences of changing time. Both endings are heavily foreshadowed throughout the game and the choice is basically foreshadowed as well.

However, that ending was also about

Completely undermining any sort of character development for Max, and Chloe needing to not only be okay with them selfishly leveling a town, but being okay with Max sacrificing Chloe's mom to save Chloe. It's actually painfully stupid as an ending if you put any real thought into it, which, people who aren't limited to the constructs of the shit tier writing of video game stories happen to do. Because they can recognize a more consistent and coherent story.

Probably why those peabody awards are for the future jabronis, still learning things about stories.

Ahh yes, the tried and true "bu-but others like it so your opinion is invalid" defense.

Not that I expected anything more from texas of all people.

I tried sitting through some of the "game", and I couldn't stand more than 10 minutes of a random scene. Makes me question just how prestigious this award you're bragging about really is.

You are ignoring a major part of the story where Max got into trouble and did not get the desired result using photographs to go back in time to change things. Notice how she rips the photos after doing so, or burns them? That's what she does in that ending. Both endings have their point. Max's development allows her to make a choice, not force her into one. And Chloe at this point is fully supportive of Max. She knows Max didn't ask for this to happen, she knows she isn't morally responsible for it. You are ignoring the writing here to make a criticism. In fact, Chloe has to support Max emotionally after that ending.

And yet you ignore 4 or 5 other winners in different categories. They are far better than game journalists and gamers at recognizing good stories.

Yeah, fully supportive of her own mother (who even obnoxious Chloe recognizes is a genuinely good person) get blown the **** away, because "oops, this is what we get for all the time traveling max". That other ending is there, just so the game can do a shitty "choice" thing.

And yeah the other winners weren't games for starters, they were other digital media I'm not exactly having a habit of being invested, but I am invested in games enough to have a problem with an award, for games, even something about narrative (a games are fucking bad at) without once humoring the question if said game actually leverages the strengths of its own medium. Which Life is Strange does here n there, like the Kate sequence, but even that is contrived as **** since they arbitrarily decided "sike you don't have your powers", which again, if they had standards for writing, that would bother them, but it doesn't, because they have no idea eye for the game part of a game.

It's like gassing up a film with atrocious cinematography.

Its overwhelmingly positive on Steam, so thousands disagree.

Only an offshoot of an award more valuable to TV than the Emmys, where winning one is a huge accomplishment and for a fiction show, winning two is historic. Its basically a Pulitzer for broadcast media.

And no, my point goes to show that the detractors are very much in the minority, and all these criticisms basically don't bring it down. And really, its one of the few games with higher gamer acclaim than critical acclaim. Usually the critics score games better (as in higher) than gamers.

Nah, if you're going by Steam user reviews (which you are), there are endless examples to the contrary.

Goat Simulator. Very Positive with 88% favorable reviews on Steam. 62 on Meta.

We should give it an award.

So... it's not the "award more valuable to TV than the Emmys", just an offshoot of it. How much is that worth in texasgoldrush dollars?

Id give Goat Simulator an award for its story before Id give one to Life Is Strange
