Dutch website Gamer is one of the first to report on this, but the new remaster is supposedly awful.

Gamers have been reporting on this when the game was released on February 1.

But the devs never sent out any copies to review sites or famous youtuber influencer demigods.

Barely show any info on your remaster and release it with no advance review copies? Sounds like they wanted to outdo R* latest remaster.

Much like that other troubled release, this remaster improves some graphical stuff, is a downgrade in some other aspects and is buggy as hell when it got ported to the new engine.

If its on PS4 already that bad, imagine how it performs on switch. Ouch. Luckily that console was skipped.

lIS sold over 3 million copies, it's considered a massive hit. Great game series and eventhough it's about a group of young females, it took me back to my time at high school as well.

Great Butterfly Effect story too. Games are a means to an end to tell a story, and should be about fun. Life Is Strange nailed both.

Easy explanation: porting from Unreal Engine 3 to 4, which isn't straightforward.

Some of the graphical aspects have been improved, but there are loads of scenes now where you can't see **** because of the way UE 4 does the new lighting engine and this causes characters faces being in shadows or not being visible due to contrast issue and these are for main characters that are supposed to be in focus in that scene :(

I liked these games but had no intention of getting this remaster at launch as I have them on XB1, they want way too much money these days, if it's enough to warrant an upgrade I will wait for a sale. Hopefully this buggy PoS is patched up by then.

I would've bought them if it was just the original games with mocapped faces for all the talking scenes.

The port to Unreal Engine 4 really killed these remasters, so buggy and worse now.

Played through both remasters.

The remasters, especially the first game, are much better, except for the bugs.

It is no where near as bad as GTA.

And the animations are far improved in the original.

A bit more buggy yes, but those animation upgrades make the games a lot better.

Charge more, do less.

Use to not have a problem with Remasters (and stuff like Quake are excellent) but predictably they are taking the piss.

The lighting issues with the dorms and the diner are now patched on Steam.

The outdoor areas have also been drastically improved in the remaster.

That's at least comforting to hear.

What can you tell me about the Life is Strange: Before the storm remaster? I heard that one didn't even get the drastically improved facial animations?

So not worth the remaster then?

Its a bit better when they kill its bugs. They have shader problems there. The facial animations were less of a problem in that game than in the original so it did not need what LIS got.

And they just released a blog with patch schedule.

If the last 5 years have taught me anything it's that you shouldn't buy a game that needs to blog to you about it's extensive upcoming patches. Especially a remaster with no upgrade discount. 40 dollars for more bugs, yay.

With True Colors, they did the same thing with a patch blog and they pretty much fixed it up.

And there is a reason why there is no upgrade discount, it was moved to the UE4 engine and the facial animations required work. It however was discounted for those who picked up the Ultimate Edition for True Colors.

And for new players, the Remaster is actually $5 cheaper for all its content than the originals.

I agree. Game originally priced at $20 and its prequel Before the Storm if I recall around $15. $40 a bit too much considering the low quality remastering effort by dev.

Remastered Collection $40

Original LIS $20 + BTS $15 + Farewell and BTS bonus items $10 = $45

So the originals and all their content is more expensive than the remastered. Also there was a bug introduced in a patch they never got rid of in the original, which was a bugged conversation with Warren at the Diner in Ch. 5.

Also, I'm sorry but I can't trust publishers anymore.

GTA DE launched with a patch schedule and then a month later the publisher is saying: "Bugs? What bugs? The game launched with a glitch and we fixed it."

Once the sales numbers start coming in and it disappoints, they'll just cut any and all support. No more fixes, no more patches.

First show us the goods, then we show you the money.

GTA DE was actually a sales success and surprised Take Two.

Second, these LIS remastered games only need two more patches to fix, it doesn't need months of support. Also, LIS has one of the strongest fan communities of SquareEnix's IPs and they would be foolish to aggravate them.

lol what has that got to do with the LIS remaster being just as ugly and horrible as the original? Are you replying to the wrong thread? Or are you just confused and upset that people are making fun of your besties and have no idea what you're banging out on your keyboard? Poor diddums.
