Level 5 to focus on the Switch in 2018, more Layton or Ni No Kuni II Port, new Yo-Kai Watch likely?

Level-5 hasn’t really done much with Switch thus far. But in 2018, that should be changing.

4Gamer spoke with Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino, who spoke about plans for next year. He cited Inazuma Eleven Ares and Ni no Kuni II as upcoming titles, before going on to say that the company will focus on Switch in 2018 – or literally that they’ll put their power into the new console.

Hino also mentioned in his remarks that Level-5 is preparing a 20th anniversary title. However, it’s unclear if it has any relations to Switch.

Just my prediction on the top, Ni No Kuni II on the Switch would be good news, but also Yo-Kai Watch as well!

NI NO KUNI II is best played on PC,PS 4. You will get a inferior version anyways so whats the point ?

Haven't played it, no idea. Saying Ni No kuni will be obv better on PC,PS 4 for High res and steady framerates.

I know that a new game in the Layton series was announced starring Katrielle Layton. I wonder if this game will appear on Nintendo Switch.

I'm not sure if I expect Ni No Kuni II on the Switch though. Personally, I am going to try that game on PC anyway.

@jumpaction: Theyll probably be rushing to do them all now, Switch is a massive success and companies are now rushing to develop games for it. Id actually rather get the Layton game.

@indzman: what's the point of the inferior PS4 version when you can have the PC version?

The PS4/Pro version is both inferior and superior to the PC version. Whats your point?

When a user's PC is inferior. People speak of PC gaming as if its a static configuration when its not. The whole PC superior notion is entirely based on IF your PC is stronger.

Meh, I was gonna buy Ni No Kuni 2 on PC anyways and I didn't like Yo-Kai Watch.

@iandizion713: Lady Layton would make a lot of sense consider the series' routes on Nintendo DS and 3DS. It would be nice to see those games move from 3DS to Nintendo Switch. I know that Capcom are porting the Ace Attorney games to Switch and releasing a new entry in the series too. Maybe another Layton x Phoenix Wright game could happen too.

Give me some Layton on the Switch. That and Ace Attorney are 2 franchises I've been hoping to see on the switch soon. I loved them both on the DS and 3DS and am ready for more.

I also wouldn't turn down ports of Ni No Kuni 1 and 2. Yo-kai Watch as well. More options is always better.

Says the guy that's too mature to play kiddy games, and say it's better played on PC and PS4. Ni No Kuni II has more kiddy visuals than Super Mario Odyssey.

This right here is why Sony cannot afford to simply ignore the Switch. It will certainly compete for Japanese developer support as its userbase grows. To a certain degree, that can be threatening to Playstation's longterm goals as a brand since it tries to bridge between western gamers tastes and the healthy cross-section of Japanese games that have global appeal.

It is certainly realistic to consider that Sony could actually dial it up a notch in terms of spending money to woo Japanese developers to their system for big AAA games if push comes to shove.

@indzman: The style of the game might be better suited to a portable system, so the Switch could have the edge there.
